Direwolf deck!

By afro2, in 4. AGoT Deck Construction

Grettings fellow AGoT players,

I recently ordered the Lords of Winter expansion as I was interested in building a direwolf deck. To my suprise I am unable to find any kind of lists online that would point me in the right direction of building such deck. Is the lack of direwolf decks is a result of them being unplayable or non-competitive?

Any help is appreciated.

Well, to start, the Lords of Winter expansion has a decklist inside that's the beginnings of a Direwolf deck. Are you asking for something more than that? It's a fun start to such a deck, at the least.

I guess I was asking if there was a direwolf deck that had good results in a competitive environement.

No. But, all the more reason to make one! AGoT LCG has a pretty large card pool now; no doubt someone could cook up something direwolf-heavy that would get some surprise wins.

Shadow Wolf deck has been holding its own in comps. Very effective, soaks up claim, quality str reducing mechanism and with the right plots can strike almost at will throughout the round.

Yhea I saw the list but i m trying a more…hands on approach. Cheap boost and overwhelming numbers. i'll post my list once i test it you guys can give me some advice :)

The immediate and obvious problems with a Direwolf deck are the lack of I and P icons and the lack of useful unique Direwolves. Theres a lot of non-unique hate right now and a lot of support for uniques. Theres also a decent number of anti- M challenge cards; just looking at Plots alone we've got Muster the Realm, Shadows and Spiders, Uneasy Truce, Lineage and Legacy… it seems to me that its hard to build a well-rounded Direwolf deck, by the time you fit support for the theme in you start running out of space for characters that provide the missing icons. Stark W crest decks with kill Events, Bear Island (maybe), the new Poisoned Coin are much more viable right now, and that build is still getting good support, whereas Direwolves haven't been given squat recently. I guess theres that new Bran, but otherwise nothing…

Yhea I just built a deck using the LOW and 2 Core sets and the new Bran. The lack of icons is a problem. I have some event cards which help me get rid of I and P characters like Lethal Counter Attack but I always seem to fall behind. Any help is appreciated :(

If you can squeeze it into a deck maybe try using MP. I cant come up with a good way to fit Wolves, Maesters and Winter in without going way over my deck limit, but the Chains and Maesters could help with I and P icons. I dont know that it will be a competitive build, but its worth a shot.
