Aggressive Negotiation - anyone using this?

By Silent Requiem, in Android: Netrunner The Card Game

I really want to make Aggressive Negotiation work in my Weyland deck - it seems ideal to score Posted Bounty, tutor for Scorched Earth and then win. In practice, though, I usually find that my Agendas are scored in a rush, with no available actions on the scoring turn to actually play Aggressive Negotiation. I'm also having trouble finding a use for it except for finding Scorched Earth.

So I thought I'd ask - is there anyone out there putting this card to good use, and do you have any tips?

I think Aggressive Negotiation is almost only good for Scorched Earth, but there are some other uses. 3x Scorched Earth is not good enough and requires too much luck to draw them. So you have consider Aggressive Negotiation or Archived Memories. Main way of bagging the runner will require 3 clicks most of the time so you have to consider your deck to handle this. Rushing agendas don't work with this. You should also use Aggressive Negotiation instantly early game when you score Hostile Takeover. Think Hostile Takeover more of a combo piece (+Archer fodder) and not an agenda.

So typically you will have to leave Posted Bounty with 2-3 counters depending on how many Scorched Earths you will have in hand. Runner will know that Weyland have to wait with Posted Bounty scoring so this can be made as an advantage also. It is easy to use traps with Weyland because of this. Ghost Branch and Aggressive Secretary works good, not a fan of Project Junebug in Weyland decks.

I usually build Weyland decks with two winning conditions. Bagging is the number one and agendas is the second. Aggressive Negotiation balances these conditions and I can adapt better to the runner. If I feel the runner too slippery to get tagged. I sometimes might get a Archer or some heave ICE (or even Priority Requisition if I feel I can score it safe fast) with Aggressive Negotiation if I feel I have a chance to win with agendas. Usually I play 2x Aggressive Negotiation in Weyland deck.

Other way to use Aggressive Negotiation would be in NBN decks, like 2x Scorched Earth + 3x Aggressive Negotiation. I feel NBN tag&bag is more of a glass cannon deck but it so satisfying when you tag&bag a runner out of blue with Breaking News (maybe help with Matrix Analyzer + AstroScripit) + Scorched Earths. This deck is not very good tho but fun.

I'd love to see your take on Weyland. Mind posting a list?

My current list is quite similar what you are playing.

Archer x2
Ice Wall x3
Chum x3
Rototurret x2
Enigma x3
Wall of Static x3
Ichi 1.0 x2

Operation (13)
Aggressive Negotiation x2
Scorched Earth x3
Beanstalk Royalties x3
Hedge Fund x3
SEA Source x2

Upgrade (2)
Corporate Troubleshooter x2

I usually want to score Hostile Takeover very early so I can play Archer. Archer and Ichi and Rototurret has a very important role in this deck to destroy programs. Corporate Troubleshooter makes sure I succeed to destroy important program or Chum damage lands if that is important. Also Corporate Troubleshooter can defend for a turn important server with Posted Bounty. I want to stall the runner by destroying his icebreakers so I have more time to find my killing cards or score agendas if he is too weak.

This deck could use more tracing methods.

Very interesting. While I agree that the deck wants more tracing, I don't think that ICE is a particularly good way of getting a tag right now against any decently skilled runner. I'd love to drop SEA Source, but I'd hate to be relying purely on Posted Bounty.

I like the emphasis you place on destroying programs. I've played enough games at this point to know that the Runner can break any data fort if you give him enough time. So, you either need to play traps (which really does not play to my strengths at all), or keep him on the back foot somehow. Destroying programs ought to do that.

I really like your use of Corporate Troubleshooter. Not quite a "trap", it has a similar effect when combined with program destroying ICE.

You've given me much food for thought. Thank you.

I've had success in using "Aggressive Negotiation" to search for credit producing cards, particularly the "Operation-Transactions" in an Weyland deck.

I pulled "Scorched Earth" from my Weyland deck because Weyland is "meh" at tagging the runner, but I influenced it into my NBN deck last night and bagged the runner on about the 5th turn.
