Hello!

I'm fairly new to this game, I've played it a few times. I've tried finding the answer to a question I have by searching the forums but it's possible the answer is so in my face that I can't see it. I was wondering when exactly do you put a base star on the board. I understand you set the board up on the first turn with cylon and human ships but after you jump.. then what? Do you have to wait for a 'surrounded' type crisis card to place base ships? Or is there a specific icon lower left on the crisis cards that means.. 'put a base ship on the board'. I'm assuming that any raiders or heavy raider icons are ignored if there isn't a base ship but the other two icons are confusing. There's the base ship with 3 raiders and the base ship (firing?).

We're just starting up again tonight.. enquiring minds would love to know!

Yeah, the main way that basestars get setup is from the 'Cylon Attack' type crisis cards. But don't worry, there is a bunch of those in the crisis deck, and if shuffled properly you will see enough of them throughout a game.

The other types of activation icons you are referring to are: 'launch raiders' which means each basestar on the table places 3 more raiders in its space, and: 'activate basestars' which makes all basestars on the table fire at Galactica.

Thanks we just finished XD. Awesome game it came down to one roll and the Cylon won. He so psyched us out, we even put the wrong person in the brig for half the game. Losing fuel is how we ultimately lost. This is the 4th time we played Cylons 4 humans.. 0.
