You're missing the point . Those are Pistol-class weapons. A Long Las, even a Compact one, i a Basic-class weapon.

Basic weapons gain extra damge on aimed shots if they have the Accurate quality. Pistols do not.

OH GOD

I AM HORRIFIED!

One of my Players, Verispex Adept, got that Dueling Laz Pistol and was using it to WREAK HAVOC, rolling a horrendous amount of dice every time he hit anything. There's not much that's easier than collecting bonuses….

Darth Smeg said:

Almost. There are reasons for wanting to do this without dual-wielding. If you only have one hand, for example….

Then why the zog don't you just buy a bionic arm?

Well, if that arm is then repurposed bu Scribe-tines to be a tool of research it can no longer be used for wielding weapons.

Ah CRAP

I've been giving the Accurate Damage boost to Pistol Weapons as Well.

SH*TE

*Sigh* That's not going to go down well with my players. I might just have to hold onto that one, and assume they meant ALL accurate weapons…
(I'll break it gently.)

My solution to the above request: Rule of cool requires an additional -20 to the inquiry test for finding the weapon, in addition to other modifiers. watch them run out of down time instantly… (or say "we're in a pop of 100,000…can i search as if it's a pop of 10,000?" and they keep rolling until it's done.)

If you have scribe-tines for an arm, you belong in an office, not on the battlefield.

If he really wants to do that he could just use "Recoil Gloves" (DH Core Rulebook, page 146), they allow you to shoot basic weapons one-handed without any penalty.

That being said, I certainly wouldn't allow a character dual wielding sniper rifles or long-las' in my game, or at least I'd rule that you cant possibly use the aim action in such as situation, it just wouldn't make sense to me.

Confirmed that indeed, DH (actually, it was the errata), contains the same wording as seen in OW.

The description of the Accurate quality on page 128
should include the addition “When fi ring a single shot from
a single Basic Weapon
with the Accurate quality benefiting
from the Aim action, the attack gains an extra d10 of
damage for every two degrees of success to a maximum of
two extra d10.”

So yes, the dual wielding of basic accurate weapons is simply right out. Its pure cheese, and fortunately has no basis in RAW/RAI for working. Recoil gloves can't prevent this, nor can any of the other upgrades in question. It is hard coded into how the damage bonus from Accurate works.

Thank you, KommissarK, for sparing my sanity. One of my fellow group members was following this thread and entertaining horrid ideas. Now I have citations to prevent it.
