A question came up during our last session.
Can a Tech Priest have an active forcefield and also engage the Luminen Barrier talent at the same time (for additonal protection effects). Or do they both count as forcefields and therefore you can only have one active at any given time?
No he can't and yes they do
I'd love to have someone else's opinion on the matter as well…

On a serious note though, I do remember reading somewhere that only one forcefield can be active at a time. Can't remember where though and I don't have all of my books with me. Is Luminen Barrier in the "The Lathe World" book?

Yes, it's a new talent in "The lathe worlds" book.
It can be argue that as a talent linked to the mechanicus implant and by the way a piece of gear. Then I guess that the luminen barrier is indeed a force field.
And as a force field you can only have one active at the same time.
Can't try to block an attack twice.
But if one is failing then you can use the second.
Always good to have a spare force field integrated to the character.
