Battlescribe Data Files for Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures

By ArcticSnake, in X-Wing

Hi guys,

I have finished creating X-Wing miniatures Data Files for users of Battlescribe. This is heavily based on vadersson's xls file. (Thanks vadersson!)

I have the download link posted in my signature, unless FFG orders me to take it down.

I hope you enjoy it!

How do you import them? I've tried importing both the zip file and the files individually and I just get a slew of java errors. Adding in the URL in your sig doesn't help either. I've got the newest battlescribe version as well as up to date java. I'm on a 64 bit windows 7 if that helps as well.

I downloaded the program, and the 3 files from the list, how exactly am I supposed to save them into the program? So I can just load the list whenever, it's a bit confusing

Thanks for the link but I had that open while downloading and it didn't help. The problem seems to be with 64 bit OS or Java as I ran through the same procedures with an older 32 bit OS computer and it worked fine. The 64 bit Windows 7/Java PC just gives me a scrolling screens of apache and java errors when I try to import the star wars file.

@ArcticSnake

Good work sir :) I'd highly reccomend creating a data repository for your files to make it easier for people to import them. See the Data Indexer help for details. You can easily host the repo in a public DropBox folder.

You can post a link to your repo in the BattleScribe forum.

I was able to use the files with my 32 bit computer and they worked great. Thanks for the work you put in! It might be worth noting that they're the 32bit versions on the page just so downloaders know.

can someone tell me how to import them? :/

Just download the files mentioned about in the OP's sig and use the import dataset function to put them into the game. As long as you don't get a scrolling screen of java errors, you should be make a new roster after that.

Thanks! I actually find Data Indexer help a bit confusing, but as soon as I can i'll be updating the link in my signature with a data repository link.

As it is now, you have to open my zip file and manually copy the .gst file into the gamesystems folder, then copy both .cat files into the catalougue folder.

Any idea how to do that on the iPad version?

Link is now updated. Just copy the URL into the Repository URL field and click Add > Update Data.

Ah got it thanks a ton!

Works perfectly, yay for no longer having to type lists in Notes. Thanks for the work.

I managed to get the app to work on my iPhone, its fantastic, thanks for making the data files!

Is there an OSX version for Battlescribe? I'm a PC guy, but my laptop is a macbook.

Thanks!

I think I read somewhere in the battlescribe forums (while searching for help on how to create the data file :P) that battlescribe can be used on OS X… Try the cross-platform zip.

Yep, ArcticSnake is correct - the cross-platform zip version should work on Mac/Linux/Windows desktops.

Nice job on the repo, looks good to me :)

Thanks for your work Mr Snake. Would you mind posting your repo link in the BattleScribe data forum?

(Just a note, if anyone has any problems/questions you can tweet me (@BattleScribe) or drop me an email (jon [dot] taylor [at] battlescribe [dot] net) or find me on G+ (search BattleScribe)

the link for battelscribe user, not work.

should be working now.

Did you Copy and paste the index.xml URL (https://dl.dropbox.com/u/108106866/Battlescribe%20Data/index.xml) into the Data Repository URL field in Roster Editor?

hahahaahahaha no sorry. i understand now. I tried to download the files like the last time (with google drive). the link works perfectly.

Thanks very much

Anyone else have the problem where selecting an upgrade for a pilot on the iPad causes the battle scribble mobile app to crash?

@FarconGnome

I think that's a bug. A crash occurs if you click the row rather than the button on the right when choosing from a "select one" option (on iOS). I've fixed this and just submitted it to the Appstore. It'll take a week or so to be (hopefully) approved, but that should solve the problem.

Workaround: click the button not the row :-P Sorry about that.

i grabbed the iOS update last night, now a whole new set of bugs appeared on my iPad…..

When I choose the rebel catalog, I see ships from both catalogs when i am selecting ships… Same goes for the empire catalog, it's like it isn't using the filter for the respective catalog I have selected for that force.

Also, there is a new entry on the squad selection screen titled "no category", and if you accidentally tap that OR the catalog name, the app crashes.
