Interview with Paolo about aircraft

Not much, but it is worth to mention great Paolo`s graphic (Raid Over Zverograd) and an info that Allies will get modified, VTOL-type P-38 Lightning.

Been wondering when Allied will be getting their own flyer, and here it is gran_risa.gif

That could be a nice wallpaper…

I think it's also worth noting that when asked what his favorite new flyer is, he mentions a new SSU aircraft coming out sometime in 2013. I guess the attack copter isn't the end of SSU air superiority. I'm hoping its a large helicopter similar to the HIND, like a flying tank in the sky.

Wouldn't that be the attack helicopter anyway?

I do love that piece of artwork and the way it shows the allied fyer, it should make for a nice and rather unusual looking plane, also nice to hear that more planes are coming but the SSU will have the edge with them.

Attack heli is supposed to be 4th quarter 2012, so I think he was eluding to a new craft we haven't seen previewed yet…at least that's my hope

The gunship (attack heli) is already out… it was released last month in premium edition.
It's only the regular edition that is having difficulties and that has been delayed.

So yeah… he's talking about a new aircraft. The next wave of minis after Hades is probably going to be focused on the Vrill as Paolo said a new faction will come in 2013 (i'd bet on the Vrill). They are probably going to give a few units to the other factions too like the rattler in Sverograd. My guess is that the Axis will receive the 2 prototype aircraft shown at GenCon and the SSU will get that new aircraft during that wave.

All of which may indicate the Vrill might be air-focused, so they are giving their opponents some anti-air elements. Which would make sense since they will come from outer-space and all.

This is all speculations of course at this point, but i suspect i'm not far off.

Exactly my point, you are hoping for a Hind-alike for the new SSU craft next year, but the attack copter is already available.

In his interview with Dust Chronicles Paolo Parente stated that there will be a 4th faction in early 2013, however from the text it seems that this will not be the Vrill.

Right, only the "hind-alike" would be an armor 3 aircraft with even more damage output…

I'm betting on the Japanese.

Japanese were my bet for the next faction as well

I'm betting on the Japanese.

I am beting on Pacific theatre as well. Japanese and Allied Marines. The Marines thought is based on the allied weapons weapon spure that someone got on the Facebook page

I doubt the japanese.

They are currently "integrated" into the axis faction. In the Dust "lore", the japanese currently use axis walkers and tech.
What would be the point of putting an entire faction which is just a variation on the theme of the axis?

And in the interview, Paolo did not dismiss the Vrill in 2013. He just basically said they needed to be careful because the Dust fans are split into two groups: those who want more sci-fi stuff and those who want it as close as possible to WWII. Being "careful" does not dismiss the Vrill coming next…

He also mentionned that sub-factions will appear more. The french legion coming soon is that idea for the allies, as were the british red devils… So i can see the japanese being brought as specific sub-faction units for the axis faction, but not as a totally separate faction by itself. A major event would need to reshape the Dust universe for the japanese to come into a separate faction that could explain them going against their allies. Currently, it's the germans who controls Japan.

Furthermore, the ever advancing lore of Dust is now coming very close to summer 1947. This is the Roswell event… which would make perfect sense for the Vrill to come…

My money's still on the Vrill in 2013. It would make much more sense than the japanese.

Also, i'm not sure the Pacific theather makes much sense too (though it could happen). The allies are being attacked by the SSU on their home ground. The fight over Japan seems unlikely… unless the SSU makes a bid for japanese territory. I see little incentive for the allies to fight a war there currently. You need an explanation for every faction fighting each other in the next region, like Sverograd did.

The Vrill coming would let every of the four factions duke it out wherever they land. As such, I'd bet on North Africa or the Nevada desert (which would make Roswell sense) over the Pacific.

Why? Because Hades is still in Sverograd. Dust-Models have hinted at desert camos coming next for their next paint schemes… Desert won't fit for Hades so they have *got* to be for the next wave of minis after Hades.

The Japanese will be their own faction. Roswell is not a Vril crash. It is a totally different alien race.

It could be though, no reason for them not to be of the same race, is there?

Paolo did mention recently somewhere that he was leaning towards a more pulp look to the Vrill, which would probably mean they will resemble the greys in some fashion.
