resolving a challenge with zero claim

By mnBroncos, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

im pretty sure doing this right but figured best to check. but if lets say i win a challenge with zero claim do i still get to win for renown and use effects like if i win a challenge or win challenge by x strength etc?

Yes, All effects from "Winning" a challenge depend only on winning it, not on claim actually having a result. To extend this just a touch, you'll also still get to use claim replacement effects (eg. Pyatt Pree), even if your claim is 0.

Claim is actually one of the smaller reasons to try and win a challenge as the attacker.

^Indeed, I attack with Rhaegal, Viserion, Drogon, Balerion, my Daenerys dragon and 1 other created dragon (Rhaegar's Harp and Hall of Dragons) for the 6 power through Rhaegal, 1 unopposed power, 2 renown power (more if I have Yunkai and/or The Dragon Strikes), 1 dead character, and 1 discarded location. Claim is almost inconsequential, lol
