I looked all over for an answer to this but I couldn't find anything concrete. Does the "Wolves of the North" quest create a separate battlefield phase during the quest phase with declaration of attackers and defenders and all that jazz, or does it just mean that the unit questing there can deal its power worth of damage to an enemy zone during the quest phase?
Wolves of the North
I thought that I'd bump this rules question to the top by asking another that just occurred to me. The Dark Elf unit Monster of the Deep says "Corrupt this unit and choose up to two target units. Those units cannot attack or defend until the end of the turn." Can that be used against units that have already been declared as attackers or defenders, or does it have to be used BEFORE they're declared to function as planned?
When you get to declare an attack, like with Wolves of the North, this leads to a whole extra battlefield phase.
Monster of the Deep or any other effect that stops units from being declared as attackers or defenders won't affect units that have already been declared.
Alright, thanks again Mallumo.
To clarify this in light of the new FAQ:
When a card, like Bash 'Em!, creates an additional battlefield phase, you get just that. When a card, like Wolves of the North, allows you to attack outside of the battlefield phase, this attack follows all steps of the battlefield phase, but it isn't considered to be a battlefield phase. So you for example can't use Master Rune of Valaya to cancel the damage from an attack created by Wolves of the North.
Thanks for the added clarification, Mallumo. I might have missed that distinction otherwise
