Please make the final book hard cover and improve the printing

By usgrandprix, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire Beta

FFG,

I just wanted to cast a vote for a hard cover book. I'm pretty careful with my books but this one is already fraying and the edges. The coating is peeling away.

Also, the text on the page is very weak. There seems to be a lack of contrast. I'm not sure if this is the font or the printing but I think the quality could be improved there. The font seems very thin.

These are not a big deal with a beta but I just wanted you to please consider these for the final book to make it more premium.

Enjoying the game a great deal.

What do others think?

You should probably post this in the General Feedback forum, if your intent is for FFG to see it.

I was actually quite pleased with the copy of the book, especially considering it's a "draft." The pages are slick, good paper and hold up to my typical highlighting & underlining without any bleeding through (my main complaint with Mongoose's Traveller books). There are even some nice illustrations; yep, quite happy.

Also, it was confirmed by an actual FFG Rep (!!!) in the "Beginner's Box" thread that the final book WILL be hardcover, and dice will be sold as a separate entity.

Good news. Thanks for letting me know.

I was pleased with the overall quality too. Just prefer hard cover. The printing itself is great in the beta and does not smudge. I just think the font choice could be stronger.

already 2 of the 4 copies that i have, the glue has separated from the cover. the pages have not fallen out but i have had to glue the cover back on.

anyone else have this problem?

I can accept that the Beta is going to be of lesser pedigree than the final book.

Having said that, I too hope that the final product has larger, easier to read type. Maybe I am an old fart, but as it stands, in less than bright light I have a lot of trouble reading the rules. I hope they work on that.

Yeah I have the problem where the covers coating is "peeling" a bit… and I have not taken the book really anywhere but left it by my bed.

Hi everyone,

The final copy will be a hardcover book, not a boxed set. Just wanted to clarify that.

Thanks!

Glad to hear it Sam Stewart. :) Thanks for confirming! Given the nature of my job, I'm required to be on the move a lot, and the lack of FFG's pdf permissions means that I'm going to have to tote the rulebook with me in order to play online - if this wasn't going to be a hardcover, that would make fraying and wreaking of the book inevitable. :( Sure, there will still be marks and the like on the hardback, but nowhere near as much. :)
