I was on the net lookin around and i saw this game mentioned in an article and it looked interesting. It any good? I have never heard of it before...
How good is this game?
my personal opinion is that this game is good. one of the best things about it though is that it has one of the best player bases out of every ccg (or tcg or what ever you want to call them) and that means you are almost going to have a great time playing every time.
We are a very biased group to ask for an opinion on this subject. Why do you get a free deck and try it out for yourself and you can decide how good it is.
Its the best game EVA!!!!!!!!!
can it be any game deck that you send in?

Any except a UFS deck. ;p
I thought they said it had to be unused?
IMO it is a reasonable game. as a begginner, the symbol system is more than a bit restrictive when it comes to deck building but other than that and various rules that exist only for flavour reasons, it's not a bad game.
If you have ever played a card game with a draw number system, this is pretty much that. if not, it is IMO a very good system but requires more thought when deck building than quite a few other card games.
While this game is good fun, its annoying rules, restrictive symbols and lack of players spoil it for me.
until they branch out into games that realy grab my attention (in other words, bloody roar or non-fighters) I'm sticking to magic the gathering.
oh and draft for this game apparently sucks.
awesome
does the deck have to be a good deck?

I have no idea. I'm assuming it has to at least be playable, I mean, I am only sending in two peasant format decks from Magic
well i'm sending two yugioh decks i just put together, there from my pile of commons but they are playable and they arent bad. i hope its enough...
The game is awesome trust me and once you make it to one big event this community will make you fall in love with it .
But yes you can send in any game and they dont have to be top tier decks for UFS starters. Also get your store owner to sign up for the UFS 3rd aniversery program your store gets free UFS set 8 product to host some cool events and get some new players into the game .
Very few new card games survive to see a third year these days... Not only has UFS done so, it's done it while deliberately limiting itself to small hobby stores. That should say something about how good this game is. And that was with all the growing pains and power-balance calibrating that comes with making a new ccg that isn't a shameless MtG clone -- now that they're finally starting to get something of a handle on such things, it's only going to get better from here
what kind of store should i go to to find out about the event?

Any store can run once they have registered with FFG as a store to host events . If a store already carries UFS then its a lot easier all you have to do is get a scout someone over the age of 18 and apply yo be a scout. Once they are accepted they give FFG their store info and you can apply for events. But you might want to search to see if their is a UFS store already in your area.
hmmm... i think i can do that...
awesome.
It's a good game if you're completely objective when it comes to character cards. If you don't really care about the characters, or care what character you're playing, then you're fine. But to be honest about 70% of the character cards in the game are useless pieces of cardboard that will never see the outside of your deck box, and even some of that remaining 30% aren't competitive in tournaments... or require you to play a very specific way which may not fit your playstyle.
Otherwise UFS is a great game and a ton of fun. I just wish they'd be a little more considerate to fans of the fighting games and the characters in them.

It will be the Set 8 Starters. So on the off chance you get a Mai Starter with a pair of Rejections, or a Sagat Starter with his goodies... weigh the cost of postage against that. At the same time, if you end up with a Rock Howard and Sakura starters, is the cost still going to be worth it to you?

Would be interesting to know... lol.
How about 60 lands?
How about a bunch of crap thrown together that's the crappiest of my Vampire the Eternal Struggle crap? Will they even know if the deck is any good?
I'm sure if you just sent them approximating a playable deck, you're probably safe. I doubt they'd even complain if you sent them 59 cards for a game that requires 60 really... I mean, are they really NOT going to send you a deck after you spent that time sending this stuff in?
let us know where you play, and we'll see what we can do about getting you a contact of location that plays the game, or helping you start your own play group.

Yeah I'd like to echo this. SOOO many and TOOOO many people want a game to be playable and competetively capable with any kind of possible deck type, off of any one resource a character has, using one specific character playing only punch attacks or something obscure like that... This is.. unresonable with almost every game.
Again UFS deck design is seldom ever HANDED to you. I learned this the hard way when set 2 released. Thought: Hmmm. Raphael. Speed. Yeah lets go with that! WOOO YOU CAN'T STOP MY SOMEWHAT FASTER ATTACKS COMING AT YOU FIVE AT A TIME INA TURN BABY!
Boy was I out played. lol

To make it as easy as possible for you to join Universal Fighting System we have created a special player promotion program. Simply send a deck of a game you’re no longer playing to the address below, and we will send you a tournament-legal UFS starter deck.
Set 12 doesn't release for over a month, and will not be tournament legal until April. It doesn't make much sense to give away your unreleased product.
