Rules vs Card Text

By Daveydavedave, in X-Wing Rules Questions

In the following examples, the cards name an action in all lowercase, that is named in uppercase in the rule book under the actions section:

-Vader + Expert Handling doesn't allow 2x barrel roll maneuvers

Expert Handling card text: "barrel roll" vs. Rulebook text: " BARREL ROLL action"

If you look at the text only, it disagrees with my conclusion because barrel roll isn't the same as BARREL ROLL

-Proton Torpedoes spends target lock (you cannot use it to reroll all the torpedo dice)

Proton Torpedoes card text: "Spend your target lock…" vs. Rulebook text: "…spend target lock tokens…"

This text agrees

-"Dutch" and Garven's special skills can give other stressed pilots tokens that would usually require an action to get

Dutch's card text: "The chosen ship may immediately aquire a target lock." vs. Rulebook text: "… AQUIRE A TARGET LOCK action…"

aquire a target lock =/= AQUIRE A TARGET LOCK, therefore Dutch can give a target lock to a stressed pilot.

See what I mean? There doesn't seem to be a consistent key word capitalization and bolding on the upgrade cards. I'm okay with that, but it would be nice to know if anyone can make sense of the current action naming syntax.

Page 20: "Breaking the Rules (blurb): Some abilities on cards conflict with the general rules. In case of a conflict, card text overrides the general rules…"

Is this evidence for a double barrel roll Vader?

I think this addresses the title of the thread, but doesn't address the original post at all. The issue is whether the difference in capitalization is meant to distinguish or if it is incidental.
