*note - I have not built a dark deck yet, and I will, and my advice will be better after the fact. For now, this is all on paper suggestions that come from in my head - take em or leave em.

If you ask me, the biggest difficulty with a dark deck is getting to play your cards, i.e getting to cards that have lvl 4+ if you include lvl 5+ in your deck which you should - but sparingly!!! The biggest weakness that exists right now is friend kill, alot of which the dark deck does not have access to. Simply put, you need to expect your opponent to get Phil out becuase you can't get rid of him short of parasite cage...

You also have to fear simba and gravity and stuff like that, anything that would ruin your ability to play x cards in your deck (high lvl dark cards). The only way to stop this is wizard, but once it's out OH boy.

Alice kills your dark deck too...

Ok, all this said. Your NUMBERS in a dark deck become everything. I think you want a lvl one first turn for sure. This means you need 1/6 lvl 1s... You probably also want to play a lvl 2 first turn... 1/6 lvl 2, and you probably want to play a lvl 3 (or third dark card) first turn 1/5 lvl 3s or less. THIS way if your opponent gets simba lvl 3 and a way to play it than you are able to discard the two lowest ones and *hopefully next turn grab another 1 and 2 and a 4, and then another 1 and 2 and a 5 - and so on. Needless to say, if your opponent gets 2 simbas or a simba and a gravity etc. you are pushed back as far as friends goes. Which is where you need to step in and say, my character has more attack than you and I can still maybe win challenges.

so in a 60 card deck, I would suggest. 12 lvl 1s, 12 lvl 2s, 8 lvl 3s, 8 lvl 4s, 5 lvl 5s, 4 lvl 6s, 3 lvl 7s, and 8 other cards :)

I'm not joking. If you want to go up to lvl 7 but don't take my word for it - try out the numbers yourself!

Monstro is not cool. In the case where you do get a dark card swarm... and therefore can actually survive and keep building as appropriate... then monstro says bye bye, bring one simba and start me at square one.

I would honestly say the only world you want to use (unless you are crazy and want to balance or 'gasp' world race) is disney castle lvl 1. a heal, a life, and a card that can't hold you back from playing other cards.

Your dark card selection and timing will determine if (with the numbers above) you can kill a world racer. And your numbers should allow you to get enough support out to kill an agro. I would actually fear a balance with life gain more than anything to tell you the truth. Or anything with lots of life gain granted you can't target casters or stop casting (until lvl 7).

Dragon Maleficient's ruling will determine if a dark deck is AT ALL viable. If you can drop 5 cards and make her lvl 4, and then once shes on the field she becomes lvl 9. Then maybe - just maybe a dark deck has a leg to stand on. Keep in mind if your opponent gets ducklings out, then you can only reduce her lvl to 7 and you are equally as messed up. Note it is not hard to get ducklings out, destiny island, ducklings themselves, and mickey all search for em.

= block text = dark decks are damned difficult.

An intresting format would be DARK DECK ONLY format as this would be more fair now wouldn't it :)

well what a "burn" deck is, is basically a deck that "burns" HP and lots of it.

cards in my deck that do that are

Pot Spider lvl 3

Barrel Spider lvl 3

Pirate lvl 6 (which is a bad choice i know)

Wyvern lvl 8

and Soul Eater.

ok then. i don't think pot spider will work super well in dark decks granted you can't cast simba or get rid of leon.

i think a massive stall dark deck with constant dark cards would be more powerful.

They are. But still, it's fun to try and come up with a new deck strategy.

A certainty no doubt. But lest you forget that the word 'strategy' bears the connation of some degree of sucess or at least the potential for sucess.

You could call it a burn deck and utilize sucessful burn cards, i.e. just the pirate and the wyvyrn. I still wouldn't advise it, but it would come closer to my defination of a viable strategy :)

well, one of my main stratgies to to use the Wizard + Barrel Combo.

Behemoth is in their to wipe their friend zone clean for Pot Spider.

I may have to find a way to get Pirate stronger.

Wvyern's only real problem is that it's level is high.

Soul Eater is there to take out that addition HP.

What I want to see is a card like Bad Reaction to Something ( I can't remember) in Yu-Gi-Oh where when they gain life points (heart points) the number of gained is turned to damage.
