Target Lock

Again, I think I know the answer, but wanted to ask the community to be safe.

I get that with trigger lock you can keep the lock indefinitely until you lock onto something else, use the lock, or have it removed in some other way.

But, a pilot could use target lock one turn, and some other action on subsequent turns, correct? So, a pilot might have an active trigger lock from a previous action AND say their focus or evade from their current action going at the same time.

If so, target lock is a pretty cool ability because you can use it even when someone is outside your firing line to set up a future shot with lots of chances to hit.

Sounds like you have it correct.

This is how I've been playing it. I like to set this combo up, roll the initial attack, keep hit and focus results while using target lock to reroll blanks only. Then apply focus so I can change all the focus results from both rolls.

You've got it right. On the flip side, it can tip off your opponent who you're gunning for. So potentially helping him/her guess how you're going to move to try and set up the shot.

I'm really liking the guess work required by this game, it becomes a bit of a head game trying to fake out your opponent.

Yes, target lock is a fantastic mechanic, both because of how powerful it can be when combined with focus and because of the second guessing it makes you do about how your opponent will move. There are great opportunities to bluff and bait.
