New Identities !

By Marconius, in Android: Netrunner The Card Game

Will you put 3 copies of a new identity in Battle packs ?

FFG does not reply on the forums. You can email them or wait and see in the first data pack.

It's not just a question ! I wanna speak about the "utility" of having 3 copies of each identity (like no need to have multiple copies of heroes in Lord of the Ring).

i don't see much point in multiple ID cards. even if you wanted to have them for more than one deck that's like the easiest thing to switch over.

If its anything like the game of thrones chapter packs there will be 3 of each card in there.

It's not like A Game of Thrones, though. In that game there's actual utility to having multiple copies of the same character. This is more like Lord of the Rings, where they don't put multiples in a chapter pack, because you can't double up on the same characters for one deck.

There's little utility in having multiple copies of agendas and plots (because they're x1 in decks and easy to switch around), though, and you still get 3 copies of those too.

The main issue if they don't put identity x 3 is how they're going to make the pack 60 cards.

In LotR, they can play with the number of encounter cards, which are not x3 like player cards.

But as was pointed out, in Games of Throne, you do get 3 copies of each plot and agenda, even if by the rules you can't play multiple copies of each.

That's probably what we'll see with new identities in Netrunner.

An option could be for FFG to add new identities in multiple of 3 (like, make a pack with 3 new identities cards and 19 other cards x 3), but I doubt we'll see this.

FWIW, I do have one minor use for identities. It's pretty easy to accidentally shuffle your identity and click tracker into your deck. So I use clear card sleeves and put two into a single sleeve to make a double sided ID card. Now it's pretty obvious when it gets shuffled in.

No idea what to do with the third one. Ebay?

Putting two ID cards back to back is a brilliant idea. Selling the extra ID cards as singles is also viable if some casual player don't want to buy a particular data pack but still want the additional identity.

There has been murmurings, namely internet wise guys, saying that one option might be to have three different identities in one pack. So while you only get one copy of Whizzard, there would be two other identities that can be used for the different runners or corporations.

The problem with this idea is that there are 7 factions, so 1 faction would be left alone.

Proxy singletons from the Core Set?

We will see three of each identity since it is two different ones per pack, one corp and one runner. It is not really that big a deal. No more so than getting three agendas or three plots in Game of Thrones. I put one in a deck if I am using it, one in my binder and the rest in my extras container.

Hmm, after reading the preview for the first AP, err, DP

it sounds more like they're treating identity cards just like normal cards (i.e. we'll get three copies):

Meanwhile, fans of the Anarchs and Haas-Bioroid should find the Data Pack particularly rewarding as each gains two additional cards, including a new identity.
