I'm guessing alot of you got it, so I thought I'd dedicate a topic for PSN/XBL names so we can play each other online (between UFS games!)
My PSN is fluxing
feel free to add me and we can beat each other up a bit

Well I just had my first taste of arcade mode today and.........ow.
I died.
A lot.
Probably my own fault, I haven't played a Street Fighter since SF2 about 12 years ago. Oh and I didn't bother with any of the focus and counter moves.
But yeah, ow.
Think I'll get a bit more practise before going online.
Before anything else, the XBL gamertag for me is SonGopaul. If I happen to be playing an FPS that isn't Left 4 Dead, chances are my brother's using my account (which is fine by me, since it helps with the gamerscore and all that).
Anyway, where do I start....
I did exactly as I put in the other thread - got up early, went to GAME to collect my pre-order, got straight home for 10am, then played furiously until 5pm when I went round Joe's to play his version. And me, Joe and Kyle played even more, trying to unlock all the characters. Kyle found a love for the game (and especially Blanka), where I stuck to my faves from before - Sagat, Honda and Dan. I beared through the night and by the morning only had Vega and the hidden characters left to complete Story Mode with.
Arcade mode: It's recommended to play offline if you're trying to unlock characters, because the "jump into someone else's arcade run" gets very annoying as it exits the fight you're in. So you could be just about to beat Seth, and then someone will interrupt and you'd have to start at him again.
Speaking of Seth, he's a pain in the neck. In round 1, he's ok since he only tends to spam his focus attack and Dhalsim's low strong punch, and therefore is pretty predictable. However, after you beat him for a round he spams everything, especially Yoga Teleport, Spinning Pile Driver, Sonic Boom and Shoryuken. You'll find yourself yelling at your screen - after the first 20 continues.
Arcade mode itself is really good, as you always get to fight a bunch of random characters, then your character's rival. Versus the rival, there will be a special intro which is either really funny or really interesting. Either way, they're better than the prologue or ending animations. And during the fight the characters will converse with one another during certain points in the fight. Following the rival, your next opponent is Seth, then if you have done well enough and met the requirements, you get to fight Akuma or Gouken. I have yet to fight either of them.
I have played a few online matches, and have done really well (perhaps playing the arcade version helped). The lag isn't as bad as in Super SFII Turbo HD Remix because the animation slows down rather than freezes. Versus Mode offline is very comptetive too, depending on the skill of your opponents. On top form, me and Kyle (as Sagat and Blanka respectively) are at toe-to-toe, and have some impressive fights. I'd like to see a replay mode put up for the game.
I've only done the Trial mode in Challenge Mode. It's a very good way to learn the moves, combos, and what it takes to get good at the game. At about level 4 or 5 the trials get a lot harder, and require some expert timing to be pulled off well. The first 2 or 3 are really good for new players, though.
Look out for me soon - once I've completed the roster I'll be heading to the online SFIV scene!
1st thing is first to let you know it was only me chris and matt at the club who played ufs alot others were that card game and we were there all theway to twelve lets just say it was verrryrrrrryyyyyy slow but anyway i take it joe got it at the drop of a hat.
GoPaul, you must SLEEEEPPP!!!!
This really sux dudes, I only have a Wii and they sure as hell didn't release it in that platform!?!? Are there any plans to port to PC does anybody know?
They claimed it was going to be on PC, probably it's at a later date. In the mean time, you could save up for an Xbox 360 and get the best of both Left 4 Dead AND SFIV!
(and btw, I'm sensitive about my name being spelt right. The p is not capital!)
I can't be the only one who thinks that El Fuerte is:
In general pretty bad.
Fricking clownshoes on the Zangief rival stage.

basically the p.c. version is being delayed aparantley because of piracy even though this http://www.2020gamer.com/?q=node/16 shows that piracy of the game already happened before it was released on home consoles personally i think it is coz capcom have a history of sucking badly at p.c. ports dating back as far as the original sf2 (which was slow as hell on any p.c. compared to the arcade or on a snes) right up to resident evil 4 but if you read the article you will see that the p.c. release isn't going to be until may and will probaby have that **** windows live gaming option where you have to pay to play it online just so you can play xbox live gamers and on a game they will already have had atleast 2-3 months of online play advantage over you not to mention you can get an arcade stick for the xbox360 if you want one for the p.c. you are looking at either buying a joypad convertor for it or even getting the old trusty wire cutters out and changing the head on it yourself
so yeah buy a console and get the limited edition version to get some snazzy character mini figures from the game and a copy of the street fighter iv anime that won't be available seperately (outside of torrents and ebay)
I bought a copy hoping for a bit of fun, but ended up quite disappointed. To me the game seemed a bit too much of a step backwards to older versions of SF, taking away a lot of the things that had been added.Overall it seemed very defensive in nature to me, with plenty of fights bogging down into good old hunkering in a corner and dragon punching (or equivalent) anybody that came anywhere near you.And Seth was really really annoying, depending on who you faced him with. It took me a long time to get him with Dhalsim but Sagat breezed straight through arcade mode on my first play.
I think I've just been spoiled by Namco. My main feeling while playing was that it was just putting me in the mood to play Soul Calibur.
On the plus side, I tried playing online and that worked just fine. I played about 30 games or so and only had any kind of noticable lag once which was really nice. Plenty of opponents as well, but that isn't so surprising.
I think that while I loved Street Fighter when I first played it (I can't even remember when - at least 16 years) my tastes have changed so it isn't quite my thing any more.
Still if anybody does want a game (of this or SCIV) and can catch me online (good luck with that - I'm often too busy these days) my username is IlluminatiPrince.
Alright, I just played online for the first time.
Seriously, can people pick someone other than Ken to use? I mean c'mon! These are PLAYER matches, I understand he's a high tier character in pretty much every SF game and hardcore players like Daigo use him to win championships, but mix it up a little ffs! Killing Ken with Rose/Sakura/Fei Long/Chun-Li gets old after a while.
Other than the player choices, I quite like the online play, I've never had a lag problem, you can (relatively) quickly find a game, and it's fun. I do seem to be getting a high frequency of "unable to play" messages, but I can get a game eventually, within a minute or so.
Having finally got my super duper interwebnets back at home, I can finally manage to play these games online
My PSN tag is Viewtiful_Me if anyone wants to play me as Cammy, Chun-Li, Fei-Long or Abel (Note, NOT KEN)
Anyone know how I unlock the last 3 characters (Seth, Gouken, Akuma)? I've completed arcade mode with every other character but I still can't access them.
Someone mentioned the collectors edition? Save the 20 quid if you ask me. The figures were smaller than I hoped, and "The Ties that Bind" DVD is BAAAAD. We watched the first 20-30 mins and we were falling asleep from the endless amount of talking. The only good part was when Viper attacked Ryu and Cammy intervened, which was a bad idea because Viper punched her in privates, then shocked her on the chest. After another 5 mins of just talking, we decided to get back to actually playing the game!
I got Akuma earlier today, before I left to go to work. All you have to do is complete the game with every character including the 6 you unlock, then beat arcade mode without using a continue and getting at least 1 perfect on the way. Easy way to do this is set the game to 1 round and put it on the Easiest setting. Akuma should challenge you straight after you beat Seth, and if you beat him you get to play as him!
I've only played Online a few times, once when I first got the game and got interrupted on Arcade mode, the rest were against friends. The one person I did play someone I didn't know only used Ryu then Ken (boo). As soon as I've beat the game with everyone, I'll start playing open matches online.

Akuma After unlocking Sakura, Dan, Cammy, Fei Long, Gen and Rose, Fight him on arcade mode, to do that, Get at least 1 perfect and use no continues.
Cammy End the arcade mode with Crimson Viper
Dan End the arcade mode with Sakura
Fei Long End the arcade mode with Abel
Gen End the arcade mode with Chun-Li
Gouken After unlocking Akuma, Sakura, Dan, Cammy, Fei Long, Gen and Rose, complete the game with Akuma. Then get at least 2 perfects and 3 Ultra Finishes and don't use any continues.
Rose End the arcade mode with M.Bison
Sakura End the arcade mode with Ryu
Seth End the game with all the other characters
Done and done. Got Gouken and Seth today, now I'm unlocking colors and other stuff. Gouken's actually not that bad.
Sagat's Trial mode is tough, because Fake Kick is useless yet stupidly hard to do. I'll let you know when I've finally done it.
This is actually getting to be something of a serious problem.
I bought this game to be my main online game since Gears 2, Halo 3 and Soul Cal 4 have lost their luster for me, and I NEED SF4 to last until at least September which is the earliest possible release date for Tekken 6.
I'm already contemplating getting rid of this game due to the sheer amount of Ken/Ryu/Akuma/Sagat/any-guy-who-has- the-same-command-inputs-for-his-moves players online. Seriously. I play play five different characters, none of those mentioned above, but 99% of the time, I'll play against one of the above. I still win most of the time but it's getting boring.
Why not add some of us or some people from the Shoryuken.com forums to widen your gaze?
I'm sure there are many other people who are frustrated about the level of Shoto-players, and the new Championship thingy they're making might make it easier too.
The man speaks truth, SF4 is better played with friends than with strangers who use the same characters OVER and OVER again...
Actually someone suggested the interesting idea that, since I hadn't yet given up anything for Lent, I take a break from computer games, so I thought I'd give it a shot.
If I come back after the 40 days and the situation hasn't changed I'll take you guys up on your thoughts and start adding peoples.
As for playing with friends, unfortunately I'm currently separate from them so that's impossible.
ok so how do u find ur own netwrok singnal strenght bar?
just wondrin cos according to my PS3 i have 67% signal, but i cant connect to anybody!
just wanna find out if thats my fault or theirs.
ok theo tells lies.
just managed to connect to someone, did akuma v akuma (if they pick a common character i akuma in return) and he disconnected just before my ultimate finisher finished so i didnt get the win....
Some people realy cant stand losing can they?
