Dark Charm and Rage?

By Stillborn, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Can it be done?

The errata says I can play aim with a charmed heroe attack, but aim's wording is very clear that it works with dark charm, since it's played before an attack.

However Rage is not so clear on it's wording, infact it specifies a monster activation, does that mean it doesn't work with dark charm?

Also what about the extra power dice from doom, would that work?

Cheers,

I don't think Rage works at all for 2) reasons: 1 it specfically states that it needs to a monster, so that's one strike. lengua.gif And 2) Aim and Dodge are orders that players can take on their own turn. Aim and Dodge the overlord card basically let you give the 'order' to one of your monsters, and it's compatabile with players since they are able to use those abilities. Rage isn't a hero order though, it's a monster power, so Rage + Dark Charm seems like a bombo (a broken combo that don't work). gui%C3%B1o.gif

No, it can't. As you point out, Rage triggers on a monster's activation. A dark charmed hero is not a monster (he is still a hero).

The extra power dice form Doom does not work because the hero is not a monster. The charmed hero also does not benefit from Command, though a Blessing from a fellow hero (or him/herself) will still work (and a Black Curse will also still work).

I always thought it was weird that Aim is allowed- the wording on Aim says "when you make an attack with a monster" as well, but KW clearly ruled it okay. Very inconsistent if you don't allow Rage, but really niether should be allowed if read as written.

There's also the point that aim is played with an attack while rage is played with an activation , and Dark Charm specifically lets you force a hero to make an attack but specifically does not allow you to activate the hero (you can't move, spend fatigue, re-equip, etc.). So it should probably be disallowed based purely on the activating condition, issues of precise wording aside.

I certainly wouldn't buy the argument that Aim is OK because it's similar to an order, and if both the cards really do say "monster" (don't have them in front of me) then that apparently can't be a distinguisher either. Guess I'll add that to the list of rules wording blunders.
