A month or so ago I was creating several Reaper inspired cards for Talisman. This is my first sort of mini expansion. My goal is to create some cards that truely make the Reaper more of a force on the board. Certain cards can be drawn that will make the Reaper even more active. You might think you safe across the board from him, but any of these cards can make it where you might face death the next turn.

I used the word "Ruin" alot on these cards. It is used in place of saying death-this or reaper-that. Plus, as I continued I realized that I could use it as a mechanic on other cards and gave the "Ruin Ring" a way to ignore the effects of the Rod of Ruin.

Hopefully, the will be fun to try out for people. I use Jon's from Talismansislands fabulous templetes. I had an extra upgrade kit, so I have been printing these cards out on sticker paper and using putting them on the extra cards that I have. They work out nicely that way in the deck.

A nice collection of cards there. I like small expansions with a theme. I'm still thinking of reworking my old Wooden Weapons to work alongside Bludgeon's Ranged Weapons. I'll get around to it at some point I am sure!

I like the cards except Garden of Souls because of its text. It's too good. Everyone with fate wants to encounter that card. And it's a place card too !

I can see what your saying on Garden of Souls. I know it is a card where I'm trying to do everything on. It was the first card that I created so I kinda of wanted to keep it "complicated". There is a lot of crazy strategy with that card, but I think the one huge negative is there is a 33% chance that you encounter the Reaper with a -1 on that encounter. Do you play deaths game or not? It is a bold card that I think alot of players will not go for, but it can be a game changer if you have the nerve to tempt fate to try it.

I like Death, and i put it into the game.

But remember that Death is extremely dangerous.

With this card(Garden of Souls), you have a greater chance to be dead !

Off course, if you want to deal with the Reaper, then you have made the right card, but you have increase the chance that your character will be killed. There is nothing to gain, and players can visit it anytime if they land on it, and has a fate point. The chance is high to roll a 3 or above.

So what is the fun for being killed, and actually have no chance against the Reaper. I know that the Reaper has also other nasty things on his sheet, but he stays dangerous !

So actually have you made a PVP Reaper game ! For Death and Glory !

Pardon my ignorance, but if someone decides to try these add ons out, how do you make the cards identiticle to the FanFlight issued cards as far as thickness, texture, ect? If you just printed them on any card stock wouldn't they be easy to tell from the other cards?

That's the main reason I've never bothered with homebrewed stuff of any kind, for any game. Only non-box thing I use are the printable Heralds for Arkham Horror and even then because they are set-up before the game, instead of mixed in with a bunch of other cards.

As Ironclaw says in the first post of the thread, it is probably best, given the texture of the FFG cards, to actually butcher an upgrade set and print the images on sticker paper.

That way the cards will effectively be identical and you don't have to worry about double sided printing and cutting out so much.
