After spending a couple hours the other day data mining the demo cards posted on CardGameDB, I'm starting see the picture FFG is trying to paint with this new style of deck building.

We know that player's decks are created by the objectives players choose. Up to this point FFG hasn't mentioned how these groups are determined however after looking at the demo cards I think I have a better understanding of how things are going to work. Instead of putting the best 60 cards available in your deck, players decide which characters they want to use and then put those character's stories and presence into their deck. Adding depth and flavor to this innovative card game.

Each objective is based on either a specific person or an elite group(star ships). Each card in the set directly ties to that key character.

Let’s take Luke Skywalker for instance.
To put Luke into your deck you have to put the objective "A Heroes Journey" (Set 1). This objective is nothing special it has 5 hit points and gives 2 resources. By putting it in your objective deck, it adds Luke Skywalker, Old Jedi Lightsabre, Trust Your Feelings, Dagobah Training ground and one other card (My guess is that it will be Twi'lek Loyalist).

Each of those cards represents the addition of Luke Skywalker to your deck. Some players might see these cards as baggage but Luke wouldn't be as great as he is without his training, instincts, and power weapon.

How about if you wanted to put Emperor Palatine…
You would put the Objective "The Emperor's Web" (Set 23) into your objective deck. This objective adds Emperor Palpatine, Emperor's Royal Guard, Sith Library, Force Lightning and Force Choke to your deck.

That's how it goes. The blocks that I've seen fleshed out look pretty solid, in terms of content. I haven't seen anything that looks like "filler" anywhere. I did a thread on this a little while back where I grouped together all the cards we've seen, by series, to give a clear picture of how all the cards in a block belong together.

You can see something similar with "Heart of the Empire" and "Coruscant Defense Fleet".

Granted, we know there's at least 36 blocks in the Core Set, and we've only seen a fraction of them, so there's still room for this to fly off the rails. Corey mentioned in Team Covenant's demo vid that there's a block for taking all Stormtroopers, for instance. I hope we get to see some previews of cards, not just randomly, but delivered in the news post as an entire block, rather than 5 random cards from the set.

This is the list i compiled from all the information i got. There will be 36 objective sets (the neutral will be twice, so then 38 in total). Each of the base 4 faction 8, 2 x 2 neutral + 1 Smugglers and Scum each. Some cards like Heat of the Battle will be there more then once. The cards have the same number, but will be in different sets.

A little math:
38 objective sets x 6
= 228 cards

+ 6 faction
+ 6 force cards
= 240 cards
