Kampfgruppe Von Sammt

Following the successful Fallschirmjager lead assault on Monte Cassino, Axis forces were able to overrun Allied defensive positions throughout Italy. Lead by Panther IIs and PanzerBattleGrenadiers mounted in Katzchen APCs, Axis forces exploited the gap in Allied lines to drive all the way to the Italian peninsula’s ‘toe’. In a maneuver reminiscent of the BEF’s evacuation from Dunkirk, Allied forces managed to evacuate a large portion of their personnel to Sicily. Determined not to allow Allied forces to regain their footing and threaten the southern Reich again, Axis forces launched a hurried cross straights invasion of Sicily.

After a short rest and refitting, KampfGruppe Von Sammt (1^st Fallschirmjager Army[elements], 7^th Gebirgsjager Battalion [elements], 3^rd SchwereGrenadier Battalion [remnants], and 5^th BattleGrenadier Division [remnants]) was tapped to lead the assault on Sicily. Unbeknownst to Allied (and most Axis) leadership, the Sicilian offensive is not merely a measure to secure the Axis southern flank. Instead, it is a prelude to a whole new offensive into Northern Africa.

The Kampfgruppe is under the command of Major General Rolf Von Sammt who, in keeping with his ‘lead from the front’ leadership style, is also in direct command of the 1^st Platoon.

Note: Though Sigrid Von Thaler and Totenmeister are present in the Kampfguppe, neither is in charge of the formation nor are they truly subordinate to the command structure, instead following their own pursuits and inscrutable goals.

You have really dedicated yoruself to that army and it shows. Im lucky to have a collection of each force in that point range but have not painted them all like you have. Again very well done.
