Lathe Worlds - The Lost Dataslate web supplement…

By H.B.M.C., in Dark Heresy

People like you and me Serpent prefer more rules material than adventures. We're not fans of published adventures, for whatever reason, and would rather see things like the information in The Lost Dataslate included over things like the adventure. But you and I do not represent the whole, and there are probably just as many people who crave published adventures, for whatever reason, and are happy that this series of DH books has included them.

But the good news for all of us is that we got the best of both worlds - all the stuff that couldn't fit into the book that we prefer, and the adventure that is in the book that others prefer. Everybody wins .

Are you seriously this stupid? I can only assume that is the case because even questioning why anyone would leave information of that level out of the book makes absolutely no sense. Presumably then you want supplements to ignore the kind of information they are intended to cover, yes? Instead you resort to the troll label, incapable of actually understanding the point. You seriously mean to suggest that an adventure, which could easily have been publisehed online, trumps actual game information pertinent to the subject matter? Would you still argue this point if they had chosen not to include the character types?

yup, obvious troll is obvious.

In your, not so humble, but still very personal, opinion.

You might prefer origins to an adventure, others might be more interested in adventures. It's all subjective, and your statements about what is and isn't nonsense and/or ridiculous is no more objective than any other opinion about what should and shouldn't be included.

I'm afraid you just aren't getting it at all.

This book has a specific purpose. It isn't subjective. That's like arguing that the core rules should forego the rules in favour of more fluff or background. THere are certain objective standards that have to be met otherwise you might as well just write fiction. If this material had been written after the main project was published then you might have an argument. Might. But the origins, whether you like them or not, are intrinsic to the game and are part of the function of this supplement. It doesn't matter how they turn out or if you choose to use them. An adventure is merely a bonus and as such the editor should have regarded that as the web freebie. It isn't an opinion, it is a statement of fact; a comment on the quality of the material would be an opinion.

Yeah, as a matter of fact I think there are adventures included in almost all DH books. Which, as a GM, suits me just fine, as I like it when they include them. Mainly because I have less and less time to prepare an adventure. So I modify existing ones.

I have one question about the supplement; are the old characteristic modifers for Forge Worlders from IH (-5WS, +5 Int) intentionally left out, as in they are not supposed to be applied to Forge World characters, or is that just an oversight?

Not a big deal, just curious, since my ex-skitarrii storm trooper possibly ought to be a bit brawnier, but a little stupider. :P

Another little quandary; there wouldn't also happen to be charts for body builds and pigmentations for Forge Worlders scrapping about the office somewhere, is there? Again, just out of curiousity, since I'm quite happy with my dark-skinned, blonde, green-eyed Beefy McExtraHueg of an ex-skittarri.

Loved it. My tech preist will love the bits I show him too, and I was wondering if there were any planned releases for bits like this for the other books… Some Aritrator/Scum origins would be real nice (specific skills/talents like in the lost data slate) and some Schola progenium stuff would be cool aswell. Just thought I'd say :D
