First game….

By rapatpamp, in Android: Netrunner The Card Game

So my wife and I played our 1st game a few minutes ago and it was really fun.

We went with the "starter" decks that they recommend in the rulebook myself as the corp , my wife the runner.

She won the game due to my inability (apparently) to get any ice less than 5 to rez by stealing 2 agendas in play and the last one from my HQ.

Looking forward to playing with the other decks and trying different stratigies.

Anyway I will put this out there to my friends and try to get more players but I think I would reccomend this to anyone. :)

The corp needs money. If all you drew was expensive ice, then spend your turns just gaining credits, even if it means discarding a card.

You start with 5 credits, if on turn 1 you install a piece of Ice and then gain 2, you then have 7 credits. Do the same next turn, and you have 9 credits, more if you draw hedge fund, for example. So, having Ice that costs >5 is ok if you have the cash. Of course, if you dont have the cash and keep drawing expensive Ice, thats not good, but there is a good mix of ice in the starter decks.

Hope you had fun anyway, there is a LOT of strategy to this game, both as corp and as runner, so let us know how it goes :)

Glad this game came out. Unfortunately, Star Wars is coming out in a few months so <grunt>….I should just forward my paychecks straight to FFG…

To sinner:

It is known…

What, there's a known method for forwarding your paychecks to FFG?! SIGN ME UP! lengua.gif

Seriously though, I just got my copy in the mail. Can't wait to crack it open!!

Interesting tip from Paul G.; anyone else got any so I can enjoy my first game more?

As the Runner, run early, run often. Don't wait until you have icebreakers; your 1st turn should have at least 1 run on either HQ or R&D, if either one is unprotected. If both are protected…run 'em both. Most of the ice that the Corp can afford to Rez for 5 or less won't hurt you too badly; worst case scenario is ending the run or possibly some damage. Which means that either they won't pay to Rez, and you get a free shot at a central server, or they do, and you force them to use credits to Rez ice instead of advancing agendas. Eventually, you'll get to a point where they'll be able to stop you without rezzing more, and that's when it's time to start playing icebreakers and building up your own tools. But the more you can push this back, the more shots you have at early agendas.
