Some Questions from a new guy

By tiago83, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Hello ppl ,

i'm new to the forum ,

started today playing solo with 1 team of 2 investigators , to get familiar with the rules , i have read the rules before a couple of times , but after this play a couple of questions arised :

1. After i put an elder sign on a location , after that when i draw a card that says a gate appears in that location , ( i know that with the sign no gate can open there) still i must put a doom counter on the GOO sheet? Or because of the sign no gate opens + no doom token on GOO sheet ?

2. I had an investigator on the first spot of the other world , then on the mythos phase of other inverstigator , i draw a card that put my inverstigator from other world into arkham again , on his next turn i can close/seal the gate , or i must go again throught other world , and only after i come back again i may be able to close/seal?

3. Whats the point of activity markers? Anything happens with them on the board?

Well thats all the questions for now , will spend the weekend with some sessions of this game.

Thanks in advance cool.gif

1. If you look at the section in the rulebook on page 9, it says the following:

C. No Elder Sign or Gate
If there is neither an open gate nor an elder sign marker
at the location, a new gate opens and a monster emerges
from it. This means that the following things happen, in
order:
1. The Doom Track Advances

2. A Gate Opens

3. A Monster Appears

So the Doom Track only advances if a gate is placed on the board.

2. Depends on the card that did it to him. If the cards specifically states "return to Arkham" then you are treated exactly as if you had completely explored the other world. If the card doesn't say "return to Arkham", you'd have to let us know which card it is that caused this effect.

3. Activity markers are just used to mark places where a rumour or similar mythos card has placed activity on the board. Like the rumour "Good Work Undone" places activity at Easttown Streets.

Thank you for the reply , didnt saw that in the rules, my bad .

Regarding the second question , i cant remember the name of the card but i know its written "return to Arkham" on it.

Thank you once again, i have no more questions for now happy.gif

I usually place the current card on the spot of the activity instead. That way during the mythos phase we go through all the cards laying on the board so that we do not miss a rumour or enviroment-effect. Somehow it adds to thetension that the players constantly look upon the cards and most often wishes it would go away. :D
