rule clarification

sorry to bother you guys,

Magic level is determined by the intelligence score, however you can boost your intelligence with KI abilities.

does this allow the higher level spells, and the ability to pick up the higher level spells.

say your using superior charecter augmentation to take your intelligence to 14, and can maintain it do you have access to the spells that the higher level of intellegence gives you, or at least can you get them being at that point you can "in theory" cast them.

the second question is about spells and abilities that have "levels", standard, advanced, and arcane.

does this mean that you have to have a seperate skill rating for these spells and other abilities or is it based off your projection/attack ratings total.

that you for your help.

Magic Level requires intelligence AND time to study, meaning that unless you can keep your incremented Intelligence for an indetermined time, I would never allow a character to gain Magic Level thanks to intelligence increased temporarily by ki. Besides by Ki you can only raise physical attributes.

About the second question I don't think I've understood it completely, but if you're referring to the Core Exxet (and Arcana Exxet) casting system, Base, Intermediate, Advanced and Arcane are the "fixed" casting levels for spells. You must have enough INT and accumulate enough Zeon to cast a spell at a certain casting level, in order to do so…it's as simple as that.

You cannot boost intelligence ir perception through characteristic augmentation, for you require to accumulate ki from the same characterisitic to raise it.

thanks I think I got the magic part down, but an example of my second question can be found in the martial arts system in dominus exxet. Shotokan has five levels, while Mui Thi has five levels yet there bonuses stack and as for the core book you can purchase a new martial art for every 40 points in your primary attack ability. So say you have shotokan and a katana, and just picked up muey thay, do all three have seperate skill rating or do they all go off your attack ability?

I don't know, what you mean with "shotokan has 5 levels" and so on.

But you can look at "using martial arts" as one weapon (unarmed weapon). All your learned martial arts are mixing to one unique fighting style of your character, boni are stacking, you can deceide which damage you use and so on. For example, if you have shotokan an muay thai on base degree, you get all the boni (which would be +5 attack (unarmed) from shotokan), but could use the damage of muay thai (20 + doubled strength bonus).

If you had Malla-Yuddha and Sambo on advanced, you would get +20 block (unarmed) (+10 for malla-yuddha and +10 for sambo), also you wouldn't get damaged from unarmed blocking (advantages of malla-yuddha), you would half the penalties for take down, disarm, trapping and area attacks (advantages from sambo).

To the katana: A weapon wouldn't usually get the boni from the martial arts, because they are only for unarmed fighting. So, if a character is wielding a dagger and has shotokan, he wouldn't get the attack bonus from shotokan. For this, you would have different ability scores

But there is a exception: If a weapon is associated, the weapon get the bonus from the martial arts. Now, you have asked for shotokan, katana and muay thai. The katana is associated with shotokan, so the user gets the shotokan-bonus, if he wields a katana. Muay thai doesn't have a bonus, so unarmed (shotokan + muaythai) and the katana should usually have they same value.

Here are a example for my new character: She is trained in Shotokan, all weapons associated to shotokan and the wakazashi. Therefore, with shotokan and all associated weapons, she gets the +5 attack bonus from shotokan, but the wakazashi wouldn't get this bonus. Therefore, here attack score with the wakazashi would be 5 points below all her other attack methods.

But: The attack/defense bonus from martial arts are like inniate class boni to attack/defense and therefore have a limit at +50. My character gets per level +5 to attack. At level 9 her "inniate class" bonus for shotokan (and associated weapons) would be at the maximum (+5 per level * 9 leves + 5 for shotokan), and at level 10 the bonus for the wakazashi would be at the maximum. (If I doesn't take one or two additional degrees in shotokan XD).

And thanks for this questions, because of this questions I have re-read the weapons-part for martial arts in the DE. I had totally forgotten the rule for associated weapon and the attack/defense bonus XD

So long,

no problem and thanks for the help

got one other question,

time wise how long is a round, combat or otherwise

say you have a charecter with a con of 10, he uses charecteristic boost of ki to raise it to 14 "superior, from DE", then uses the Psychic regeneration boost to take up to the equivelant of an 18 …. in combat terms how fast are you recovering I know it says 2 points per minute but how long i is that in rounds.

A round is three seconds, so 1 minute is 20 rounds. I would be shocked if a combat lasted that long, though.
