The character I've written doesn't really fit for a command type. I'm fine with a secondary role.
Gotcha. I'll lean more towards Command, then. Just a background to write now.

So guys, you used the point buy system in the end?
Ya. It's just easier to keep track of. With rolling you have to write down every roll and then decide where to put it. I usually end up with a big list of numbers that I have to slowly cross off as I assign them to characteristics. Sometimes I forget to cross off a number or cross off the wrong one. It's just annoying. With point buy I just put 10 in everything then split the last 10 between the two characteristics that I want to emphasize. Super simple.
As for class, I'd have gone Tac Marine as well, but they are severely lacking in melee talents. Really no reason to go for the Chaplain if you can't expect to do well when you are hitting stuff with your shiny Crozius. The Wolf Priest doesn't really have this problem since they get a lot of those essential melee talents in their advancement table.
And I've always wanted to do one with a Power Fist and a Crozius. Might as well have a jump pack while I'm at it.
Can you direct me to the fillable sheets you are using? I found some but I'm not to happy about them. Thank you.
I use a text sheet. Fillable PDFs are slow. I can PM it to you if you like. Also remember that if we use RPol you won't be able to use a PDF. They are strictly text sheets only.
Thanks DJSunhammer, I found what I was looking for here: http://www.raphitari.com/deathwatch/DeathwatchCharSheetFillable.pdf Even though we decide to play on RPol I was thinking of updating this pdf as my character progresses. I am not sure how the text based character sheets on RPol look like, but If if needed I will copy everything there, thanks again.
As mentioned before, I'm favouring Techmarine, though I've also been tempted by Librarian (I've seen too many played badly in my games, and wouldn't mind a chance to do it properly - equal parts scholar, sage, warrior and mystic, rather than just focussing on the 'combat psyker' part). Still not decided on which Chapter, though - I might go Ultramarines just to be different and to set him apart from the non-Codex characters.
Hey everyone, I've gone for an Iron Hands Marine character, I like N0-1_H3r3 I was between a Librarian, Techmarine and in my case Devastator marine. N01 if you have a preference, I'm pretty fine with going either option so I can take over what remains if you like? Also as far as that goes doe everyone feel we need an (un)freindly neighbourhood devastator marine or can we go without? As long as everyone is cool with how I'm doing it I'll get writing up a back history and establishing the characters personality that'll be done by the end of tomorrow.
I personally feel a Devastator would be quite handy, but that's just me. I can't actually speak for everyone else until the game starts! That said, being able to put a large amount of lead out there on a hectic battlefield would be beneficial, but with an Assault Marine and a melee-focused leader (myself), you would have to pick and choose targets carefully.
That's not a problem, I did think that it would be good to be able to get a lot of shots down range so I shall go for Devastator Marine. My BS is better than my WS anyway so it makes sense to run a ranged character.
After some consideration, I think I'll go for an Ultramarines Librarian. I'll build him up and write up a background shortly. Expect combat experience facing Tyranids - the Battle of Macragge only happened a few decades ago, afterall, and I personally regard the spread of anti-Tyranid strategies to be the number one reason for the currently-depleted Ultramarines to be sending valuable Battle-Brothers to the Deathwatch.
Guys! How are those characters going?
Tip: Choose your Battle-Brother carefully… Try to make a decition to articulate your Kill-Team to maximize your strength and lower your weaknesses to make a solid squad
