WOW,.. I really hate to look stupid but,……

I can't seem to find a " Data Directory" or a " Ruleset folder" for Fantasy Grounds. My path to get there in xp is: start, program files,Fantasy grounds, and then I see an Apps data folder. I assume this is the apps data directory? When opening the "apps data folder" it contains : cache, docs, modules, utilities, campaigns, extensions, portraits and then a few text documents. I do not see a "ruleset" folder and none of these folders contain a "ruleset" folder. … now I did see a file in the modules folder labeled 3.5e basic rules.

I should mention again that I still have the demo version, and that I have all the stress and fatigue tokens, and coins, and the party sheet, and all the mini card images. I can load Day Late and see the maps and NPC's ect. I just can't see any character creation or any pre-gen characters.

So my v3.pak is sitting on my desktop just waiting for you to tell me where to stick it. As I am sure, you are ready to do by now,..gran_risa.gif

If you have trouble contacting Ceodryn, drop me a message and I will help get you fixed up. I am running a game on Sunday which you can join if you like :)

There are no stupid questions!

Flyndad, it seems to me that you actually have FG2 and the ruleset working properly, otherwise you wouldn't be able to load Day Late, nor have access to the tokens, cards etc… It may now be more a matter of learning to use FG2, and the best to do that is to participate in a game.

However, let me summarize the three steps to installing FG2 and WFRP3, to make sure you have done all three:

  1. Download, install and FG2 through Fantasy Grounds II website. Your FG2 version should (as of today) be 2.9.1
  2. Download from Neil's website, the file: WFRP3 v3.pak, referred to as the "ruleset". This file should NOT to be unzipped. Place this file directly in your C:Program FilesFantasy Grounds II folder. The same folder that contains the executable launching Fantasy Grounds II.
  3. Download from the Google Group, the file: WFRP v3-Library.mod, referred to as the "library" or "library module". Place this file into the Module folder accessible by clicking Start -> All Programs -> Fantasy Grounds II -> Application Data Folder

Once all those steps are done, FG2 and WFRP3 are installed, but you now need to learn to use FG2. "How to Play in FG2 WFRP3" - 35 mb - is a short video that explains, from a player viewpoint, how to load or create a character, and how to play using the WFRP3 ruleset. It is meant as a replacement to the game demos I have ran when we first launched the google group. I apologize if the sound is a little low, you may need to use headset or external speaker to boost it.

All that being said, FG2 is much easily learned by connecting to a GM and play around. Skellan has a game this sunday, which you can register to on the Google Group, and you can take my spot. If you want a one on one test of FG2 before hand, you and I can connect one evening (or weekend morning), and I can shortly demo to you how to use FG2.

Cheers

So does not appear in Games Worshop store, and recieves brief mentions at best in White Dwarf. But it is their IP, thier baby. Maybe if they acknowledged its exisrtence, spent some more time on it, and helped it grow that support would open up a lot of table top players to the RPG's. And they get their cut of the profits from it too. I think they fear it to be mutualy exclusive i.e every RPG sale is a lost army sale - but that's not the case. Half my group have tabletop armies and the other half have never been interested in tabletop at all - so some of us have both whereas the others would not have bought anything but for the RPG's. No sales lost there. If anything cross selling creates a stonger and more atractive brand. Books and armies go toether fine in the GW stores. RPG and Computer games add to the mix. Plug all as a coherent whole and more chance of cross sales.

This is all very true. I started running a casual bi-weekly group online with some friends, all of whom turned out to be avid tabletop gamers (some 40k, some Fantasy). One was surprised that the RPG wasn't sold in the stores, but after playing WFRP with us went out and bought Island of Blood (he is more a 40k player). I've since caught their enthusiasm and started work on a beastman army (the army rulebooks make great addendums to the rather poor creature guide, too).

But what can you do, huh?

"Hey Grum, can I have some of your beer?"

@Flyndad

Apologies for the confusion, I forgot the demo version is slightly different from the other versions. Ceodryn is correct, follow his steps and you should be up and running.

Still not able to access any character generation. When I open the character window it is empty. The window looks good ( I like the statues ) but there isn't anything to click on,.. Do I need to be in an actual session ( with the demo version ) in order to create and mess around with a character? or am I failing to load a library??

Flyndad,

I'm an old player of WFRP 1st/2nd and… sorry, here in Italy it's a ghost system.
Only few and far in between know about it, fewer play it.

Right click on that empty window - You will see an option come up on the radial menu called 'create new item'. Click that and a new character will appear.

. . . . . Music builds to the apex of the crescendo and,………………………………………………………………….. TAA - DAAA !!!!!!!!! < cymbal crash>

Thank you,…. gran_risa.gif

Flyndad,

With your demo version now working, you can actually join a game if a GM has an ultimate version. You don't need to buy FG2. Urskoy/Skellan does have an ultimate version, and he runs great games, so if you want to play this Sunday, let him know and register on the google group.

PS to Karma: Ok… That would be either very stupid or courageous :D

OKAY !!!! I think FG is installed and working,.. The framework is installed and working ( btw,. AMAZING Neil !!! ) and I have my skype installed and running properly ( I think ) and I have upped my internet speed with the cable company. With all of that, I believe that I am ready for a VERY slow demo / walk through,… Wow,.. that feels really good to say,.. So if anyone has an upcoming game and they wouldn't mind "the new guy" with all the questions tagging along, please let me know,.. My skype name is Flyndad123,… Character name at the "Old World League" on Obsidian Portal is "Two". and username at the google groups is Fly-n-dad.

Thank you all for all the help and support,…. aplauso.gif

Hey Flyndad,

Well, if you can, come and join the game tomorrow. It's at 2pm EST, check the Google Group at this link. We can always do a walk around FG2 beforehand.

Cheers

happy.gifgran_risa.gifaplauso.gif Well I just finished playing my first ever WFRP3e adventure ( with adults ) and it was AWWEEEESSOMMEEEE !!! Thank you Skellen, Richard, and James!

We used Fantasy Grounds, and Skype. Very easy to get going once you have everything installed and running properly.

My character, Two, a Grey Order apprentice wizard, did his job nicely ( made everybody a bit nervous I was told ), what with all the lopping off of heads and hands. ….. In retrospect, perhaps I was a bit over zealous, but hey, it was my first time and Two was eager and a little on edge.

Utilizing information I had received from Gitzman's Gallery - www.gitzmansgallery.com , the WFRP3e google group - groups.google.com/forum/#!forum

/wfrp3-virtual-rpg , Obsidian Portal - www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/the-old-world-league , and the Liber Fanatica site - www.liberfanatica.net/ , I was

able to play with two guys from England and a gentleman from Germany ( I think ). It made for an even better experience than I would have received at a

face to face table game. The various accents REALLY helped with imagining the VERY different characters.

Bottom line is I had a great time and Thanks to all the above mentioned websites, FFG will receive additional funding from my wallet as I will now purchase

some of the expanded material. I REALLY hope FFG understands this and can begin to throw these guys a bone.

A Very special thanks to Skellen, for his module and GM skills, Neil for his FG framework, and Ceodryn for the google groups and staying ontop of it. ( At most a 24 hr. response to questions etc. )

Can't wait to do it again!! anybody feel like starting a game? I should be good till about 8 or 9 tomorrow morning gui%C3%B1o.gif

Petar is from Serbia :)

Glad you had a good time. My throat kind of hurts from all that shouting though, and I'm pretty sure my neighbours will be giving me funny looks, my walls aren't exactly thick.
