How to deal with dragons

Heyhey

I played Castle Daerion yesterday. It was the first scenario after the Introduction with me being the OL. In the first encounter I chose the Shadow Dragons as an open group and I have to admit it wasn't fun at all. It took four rounds of boring, senseless beating until the heroes managed to kill the first of the two dragons. I won easily. Two defence dice and the "Shadow" ability seem a bit too hard for young heroes. Is there any trick combination or whatever which work against "Shadow Dragons"?

Are you asking from a Hero perspective or playing them as the OL?

From a Hero perspective, these guys are gonna be pretty terrifying with the shadow ability unless they're constantly rolling surges. Younger heroes will only do good against these dragons if they can force surges as well, from skills/items.

From an OL perspective, they're great in more open areas like Castle Darion e1 or Death on the Wing e2 (if they can even be used there, not sure at the moment, just stating for space). If you can also hit off the flame attack and draw lines to other heroes, it's a great advantage.

Any more explanation to what you're trying to ask would be very helpful.

Although I play the OL, I was asking from a Heroe perspective. Since if the Heroes are without chances in the first place, the game sucks even if you win.

Our OL uses these as often as possible. Ranged weapons are preferable. Stun and immobilize are very effective. Keep ur distance, you technically have to spend a surge to attack any monster while adjacent to the dragons. Not to state the obvious but act II weapons really help when attacking melee, because the potential of surges increases.

If you can poison and/or disease the dragon they can't heal from it either. This is what I have found so far.
