Vassal (PBEM engine)

By KarmanMonkey, in Support

I live about 250km away from my brother. We're both avid gamers, but rarely get the chance to play in person. We both collect your games, and between the two of us, we probably own between half and 2/3 of your entire library. It would be nice if we could use software like Vassal (www.vassalengine.org) to play these games, but currently the only one made publicly available is Warrior Knights. The reason for this is that the official response from FFG in regards to getting permission to distribute modules for FFG games is varied, and the community is unwilling to risk displeasing the powers that be at FFG.

Apparently there is a working module for Arkham Horror as well as others, but without your permission, we (the gaming community at large) will never see them. I understand your wanting to protect your intellectual property, but on the other hand, it'd be wonderful to be able to play games with my brother from time to time. In addition, I don't see the availability of such modules significantly impacting your game sales, though in this I could be mistaken. Certainly in my case I prefer a game company which provides support to their players. One of the main reasons my friends and I like FFG so much is because of the availability of rules and other resources from your website. It's certainly a boon to be able to tell my friends "We're playing Android on Saturday. Grab the rules and make sure you've read them over"

I would thank you to please consider giving permission (even with conditions) for modules of your games to be available to your loving customers!
