Just wondering when can I actually use the 2 abilities that can fully heal your sanity and stamina ? from the dog and professor !? ARGH...names are avoiding me...even if I play ashcan Pete 60% of the time

Duke is the dog, can't remember the other guy.

As far as I am aware, you can use them at almost any time. The only time I would say you couldn't use them is if you are about to lose Sanity or Stamina. You have to wait for that to resolve, then use them. So you couldn't use Duke to stop yourself from going insane if you are about to lose your last point of Sanity. However, if you're on 1 Sanity and know you're about to lose another one (but haven't actually reached the stage where you have to do it yet - e.g. you haven't made that pesky Horror Check yet), then you can use Duke happily.

I would just say you couldn't use him AFTER failing the Horror Check but before losing the necessary Sanity.

You can use them at any time. But once an encounter or a combat begins, you can't discard them to save yourself. So you either have to have a bad feeling or narrowly escape to be able to use it right beofer or ight after respectively.

So I could only use them in an upkeep during AO fights ?!

Well now I know I played it wrong , but at least ...I still had enough hp left to beat up the AO even if I heald prior to that.
