Maybe some one has answered this already - if so, I haven't seen the answer: What size sticker sheets are you guys printing this stuff on? I saw the OP was going to use round price stickers, but has anyone tried to print some of the other custom sticker sheets or the sticker sheet in the Support section? I can't figure out what type of sticker they are to be printed on.
New dice
The PDF is set for Letter (8.5" x 11"). So, measure from there to determine the size of the round circles I think most people are using the 25mm dice, so a circle couldn't be much larger than 23-24mm in diameter or it would overrun the edge.
The ones I bought were 1/2 inch circle, when ends up being 12.7 mm… which ended up being slightly larger (just barely) than the faces of both the d12 and d8 dice.
I just looked at the site where i got them, this is the smallest they make. Now I am left with the decision, do I A) use them anyway and just see what happens… of B) go with the sticker sheet method. I am not really looking forward to manually cutting over 100 stickers, so most likely i will just print these bad boys and make some "getto dice". LOL.
Well so much for this method. They turned out somewhere between acceptable and shabby. I have already went through a lengthy soak in soapy water process to remove all these.
The problem was not the d12s as expected, but the d8s. They would not stay stuck down on the edges…
I am now looking at coming up with a simplified symbol set and using permanent marker.
I hate to sound snippy about this, but if FFG would make some proper dice for us, none of the O.P.'s Herculean efforts would be needed in the first place. Seems to me if they really want us to test this game at 30 bob a pop they could at least make some proper dice available - it's not like they wouldn't sell.
Not to mention that they could write a Dice Rolling App for Windows while they were at it - instead of just the small number of people who own Smartphones.
Just sayin. Helluva effort though man…I just think you really REALLy shouldn't have to.
Yeah, I hear ya. There is quite a bit more cost into making a small run dice set VS just printing books.
My new plan will be talked about in another thread. I am going to use 2 colors for the positive and negative dice, and simplified symbols.
BLACK INK: Success (Asterisk), Advantage (Plus), Triumlph (Asterisk surrounded in Circle)
RED INK: Failure (Circle), Threat (Minus), Despair (Minus surrounded in a Circle).
For the Force Dice I will just use normal dice. They are pretty easy to remember.

Well, sure, if they were just making a small run dice set, but I don't think there's any doubt that somehow the beta will "fail" and suddenly there will be a bunch of orphan Star Wars dice out there without a game. They are gonna ideally need one or two dice sets for every game book they sell. I understand there's a cost my friend, but THEY'RE the ones who decided to use non-standard dice, now it's up to them to do a better and more timely job providing them OR a more accessible Dice Roller App.
I urge everyone to accept nothing less. You're doing one helluva job kitbashing a set, but again, I reiterate, you should not have to.
The app isn't that inaccessible. The small cost is most likely due to licensing issues with LA for the sounds and graphics used.
Plus I imagine the official dice will be released when the game is - the beta is still to test things out, and whilst I very much doubt anything major will change with the dice, I suppose it is possible that changes could be made prior to the main release, which would make any 'official' dice at present useless.
Also, remember that you can just use normal dice without any issues - that's what I do.

It's inaccessible as hell if you've no smartphone. I know you seem to think there is a way to do it without a smartphone, and I have attempted to do as you've advised in that regard and so far I have had no success. As I have said in another thread, Google Play is jealously guarding the thing. So, yeah, until I figure out the secret password or they make it for PC, it IS inaccessible for a LOT of people.

Heh, yes, I can use normal dice - and slow the game down. And I know you'll say it doesn't slow the game down that much, but I will dispute that with you quite a bit. Not to mention the fact that when introducing a new mechanic as powerful as a whole new set of dice to players, it's always best to do so once, and with finality - rather than allude to symbols they'll have to learn to read later, but not just yet…that's really not helpful.
Which leads me to when the official dice will be released. You contend there could be changes, and that would be an interesting point if I honestly believed there would be. I find it very difficult to believe that this will be the case - and even if it was, folks are buying a Dice App for the current version of the rules, if the dice need changing, the app presumably will have to be changed. People know this when they buy the app but they buy the app anyhow. I posit that this would work the same way with dice. People would by "corrected" dice if they had to with little complaint.
And you're right, the point of releasing a beta is to test things - which is hard to do without dice.
Sorry folks, I am just not inclined to be easy going on this one. We need those dice. Either in physical or Windows compatible form.
I would love to have the physical dice too, even if they were only Beta dice, but the thing to remember about the app is that it is software and can be changed with an update later on. My guess is that when they do the dice for real it will be on a large scale to keep the cost down, the last thing they need is to have thousands of beta dice that then have to be changed when the full game is released.

I agree, the software can be changed and updated - which is why I find it a mite ***** that there's no support for Windows platforms now.
Also, I would bet my spleen that there will be NO difference between the beta and final release dice. Remember, changing how the dice work has a PROFOUND effect on the rules tied to them. This will be no easy shift.
But even if they did change the dice, mark my words, nobody is gonna care. They WILL pay for both sets. I swear they will. Especially if you're looking (as it is rumored) at a gap of between 6 months and a year between Beta and Final Copy.

Oh, I agree - it's probably because making huge numbers of specialist dice takes a while, and so they're going to be released with the full game.
It's still a very small possibility, however - I mean, there has been a lot of maths thrown around for the dice results and views on whether they're working as they should or not.
Yeah if the Starter box set is out for christmas (Q4 2012) then the dice are in production, the good thing will be that they may be available on there own at the same time.
oops I should have said MAY be available at the same time.
Got my paint markers, new project is looking pretty good so far. Slightly changed the symbols to further simplify them so the same set of symbols are used on the same kinds of dice…
Good Dice (white with black symbols): Success: circle, Advantage: Plus, Triumph: Circle with a plus in it.
Bad Dice (white with red symbols): Fail: triangle, Threat: minus, Despair: triangle with a minus through it.
My final dice solution can be seen in this thread if anyone is interested.
Pesky double post. Not sure what happened there
Thanks for the template. This will be useful

I think you missed the whole thread, template did not work.
I'm attempting the home brew custom dice solution. This template should work perfectly for it.
