New dice

By BrashFink, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire Beta

Here is a little taste of what I am brewing. It is a way to not use FFG's stickers, and make a LOAD of dice. Oh… and it involves NO glue…

I will have all required materials ordered this weekend… I will give a full write up of my plan then.

I will also update with photos of results and how it turns out. The whole project is going to cost me $30-$40 bucks and I will end up with 30-35 Star wars dice.

Share the wealth with others so we can can partake as well?

Random guess: foldable dice.

Oh good lord no. HAHA. It will be another sticking system… it just is more generic and allows you to make a lot more dice.

I am ordering all the equipment today… I will post exactly what I ordered, where I got the stuff… and post the HQ template to print with. I am also making something similar for Force Point tracking.

Okay parts are all ordered. Here is what exactly I am doing.

1) I bought a 10 pack of each d6, d8, d12 from Chessex. I bought them from PAIZO , who had each set for under $4.50. There are a lot of sites that have these, I just noticed the one on Amazon claimed to be sold out of one of the sets. ($15 more or less)

2) I bought a few copies of THIS STICKER PAGE , which have circles less than 12mm that should fit on any of the dice. I bought like 10 sheets, even though I will only really be using 2. This is in case I need to readjust the template, mess up, etc. ($5 more or less)

3) I created the THIS TEMPLATE from the a template on the same page as the stickers.

I also got THIS STICKER PAGE that are larger 1.25" circles. I am planning on creating two sets of stickers for Lightside and Darkside to stick on each side of some clay poker chips I have. For these I will be using the Yellow TRIUMPH and Red DESPAIR to represent each side. I will be working on this template this weekend and will post also. Most poker chips are 40mm which is about 1.5 inches, so these should fit nicely with a small border.

Currently the project has cost a bit over $20 with shipping. I will post more images as the project progresses.

Slightly off topic…

Has anyone else noticed that the Triumph symbol is Alderan being shot by the Deathstar?

HAHA. The symbols are actually based on the light side and dark side symbols from SWTOR when your character acquires points in them. I am not sure if anyone has mentioned that. I assume they have somewhere on here.

Actually they might even go back to KotOR… cannot remember.

HERE is the 1.25 inch template for standard 40mm poker chips to make them into Force Point Tokens. One goes on each side. I am using black poker chips, but the choice is yours. THIS STICKER PAPER is the one I am using.

One sheet will make 24 tokens, which should handle in theory up to 12 players (if they ALL roll doubles). If you are running a campaign with 12 players, God help you. LOL.

Also… I will be posting some B&W versions (with higher contrast) for those of you who to not have a color laser printer like I do.

Following this thread with interest.

Stuff should be here sometime in this coming week I think. I will keep you all posted.

Stickers came today… still waiting on my dice. The d6s say "Pending" still for some reason. All the rest say "Shipping"

Is the sheet of stickers, just a backer sheet with the round stickers on it? Or is the sheet made of a whole sheet of the sticker paper with the circles cut into it? I hope you understand what I mean. The reason for asking is that if it is just a backer sheet with the round stickers on it, this could mess up your printer as the ink/toner may not adhere to the slick backer paper and therefore get on parts of the printers where it's not meant to be.

Thanks,

Mark

Yes. These are sheets designed to work with printers. The links above give full details on the paper… and no company would try to pawn off blotter paper stickers as printer stickers.

The dice have still not shown up. They just today shipped the d12s and d8s… there is some delay or something on the d6s. However, I was able to print and setup my Force Point Tokens. They are double sided…

Thanks the info. For some reason I wass thinking that they were just sheets of circles as you get when with the Avery pricing labels.

When did you order your dice from Paizo? I ordered mine from them on Aug. 26th and the order is still pending for all sets. I wonder if there was a recent flood of orders and they're waiting for more stock to come in.

Matk

Not sure. Mine said Pending on all of the dice yesterday. Today, the d12 and d8 both say "Shipping." The d6s still say Pending.

Kind of annoying since they clearly stated they were in stock when I ordered them.

My d8s and 12s came today, work this weekend though, not sure when I will get more done.

How's it coming? I'd like to try my hand at this, but I want to make sure I can print the dice onto the right sticker sheet.

I would recommend against this method to everyone at this point.

The dots I bought are SLIGHTLY too large. Right now I am trying to decide if I should just make them anyway… or recreate the sticker sheet on one size smaller and order a whole new set.

Pretty cool… but looks like a colossal pain. 120 times for my 10 d12s? lol gran_risa.gif

Actually, it is Luke's lightsaber from a movie poster.

Well, I want more dice than the sticker sheet allows, so worst case I print them on an uncut sticker sheet and cut em by hand. :)
