UK Netrunner Release Event - Midlands

By FatbastUK, in Android: Netrunner The Card Game

Hi Folks,

GTG Games & Hobbies will be running a Release event at our store when the game is finally released into our hands. You may know us from the Game Of Thrones Regional and our support for that LCG.

Netrunner is a game close to my heart and we hope to mirror the activity we have for AGOT in organised play, ensuring that FFG recognise British players for the skill and joy of the games that we display every week in homes, stores and clubs.

We already have over 20 local players preparing for the release (using my old cards) and wish to invite ALL those who want an entire day of Netrunning goodness to come along. Naturally we cannot put out to much info until the game is actually within sight but I am assured that it is coming a lot sooner than many think…

We also have the game available for Pre-order at our store www.guysthatgame.co.uk

Watch the thread for more info.

If this is anything like the AGoT events it'll be awesome. I'll also finish somewhere in the middle after having a crisis of deck faith at 3am and building something random, but hey, why change a system that works….. or not.

I think he's referring to the fact that FFG updated the status of A:NR to "Shipping to stores", and that the A:NR entry on the Upcoming page says it's still expected by August.

I kinda doubt that it will be released before three days are up though.

Noooo. Netrunner will not be available until September but we are 99% certain to get it at the same time as the USA. There will not be the anticipated 'long sales gap' between X-wing and NR either, which is good.

So I go to my flgs, Heroes and Legends Games and ask around for Netrunner, and they didn't have a scoobies about this game. Surprising, seeing as they are proponents of both card games and FFG.

On the plus side, it might mean little contention for stock when it arrives, but it might also be a struggle converting an entrenched Magic community. I'll demo the crap out of this game when I got my two copies.

Looking forward to high quality gameplay, fun community and fair organised play at the best FLGS (friendly local game store) in the UK.

With great communities for Game of thrones LCG, Warhammer invasion and call of cthulhu LCG the store is shaping up to be THE place to play card games.

Back on topic with netrunner the new version looks refined, beautiful and **** interesting to play i cant wait.

Get ready to run folks. Watch the GTG forums and this thread for info on the release. Like I said, sooner than you might think happy.gif

OK so its ON.

Netrunner hits the UK this week and we are running our RELEASE EVENT on Sunday 9th of September.

We have a release event listed on Facebook but you may need to join the group to see it, facebook is an ass so I'm not sure whether the event can be easily read outside of the group.

If you are in the Midlands or don't mind a bit of Motorway/Rail time then a visit to GTG is worth the trip. The whole of our 1st floor will be dedicated to Netrunner gaming on Sunday.

Release this week? No way…

Yes way!

Gameslore will have it Wednesday or Thursday, Eclectic Games will have it Friday and The Geekest Link paid (and are charging) loadsa money to get it early (but it seems that everyone has it relatively early anyway, so I bet they're a little gutted). I'm sure there are others getting it shortly.

All in time for my birthday!

I will have to nudge the Coventry lot and see if anyone is available for this weekend.

How much stock are you guys getting in?

These guy organise amazing 'Game of Thrones' events and i'm 100% sure these will be the same!

Really looking forward to Sunday now :)

We have enough for the substantial number of pre-orders we took happy.gif and we also have some available for off the shelf purchases over the weekend. If you are thinking of coming up and want to secure a box or two just use the site and select 'Collect from Store' for the delivery option. That will buy your box and get it put aside for only 30 quid.

Turn out is looking good for Sunday. The game has been a HUGE success sales wise so now we want to see it PLAYED. See you at the weekend.

Just a heads up for groups considering doing this sort of thing, and I recommend it to those who want to get to grips with the game in their local area, we are keeping our event to SINGLE boxes only for deck building. We know that many are going to buy 2-3 boxes but having a level field for this type of event (and the LCG format) is vital.

Hopefully we will get some pics and videos sorted for our Facebook/Youtube page that you can enjoy.

We're doing the same thing for the first tournament, since the FLGS was only able to get limited copies in and we want to open it up to a wider audience. However, I'd find it difficult in future to impose this restriction. 8 of my friends have bought a copy, and what I'm effectively saying is that one person cant lend another 1 Rabbit hole so that he has 3 in his deck, which feels a bit wrong.

The event was great. We saw a good mix of Runner and Corp decks fielded and it bodes well for the future happy.gif

36 boxes were shifted, all the stock we had so it looks like the playerbase is immediately very solid. We will be running ONE BOX events until the second wave of boxes arrive and then switch to a 'full' tournament process.

Our BIG tournament (similar we hope to our AGOT events) we will be announced once the first Chapter Pack date is known.

Need more details. How many people. How many rounds? Who won? And did you get decklists? :)
