OCTGN Tourney starting 9/10/12

By Staton, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Hello Everyone!

So looks like we finally are going to get the OCTGN tourney underway. We are again going to divide the tournament up by Time Zones. We are going to have a North American Bracket and a European Bracket. At the end of five rounds of swiss (if we have over 50 for each Bracket we will go to six rounds of swiss) we will take the top 4 (or top 8 if large enough) from each group and manually pair them up for a top 8. The Top seeded EU player will go against lowest seeded NA player. Top seeded NA player will go against lowest seeded EU player. At this time we will not be recording the final matches, but that could change.
Now obviously not everyone will fit perfectly into these two time zone areas. That's fine, you can still play! You just need to pick the group that is closest to you in terms of you being able to schedule a game. So if you are in China, you might want to join the EU bracket and just stay up late. If we happen to have a large number (say 20+) I'll go ahead and schedule a third bracket.
We are doing the scheduling a bit different this year though. Pairings will be posted on Monday, and you will need to have in your results by Wednesday night so that we can get next round out on Thursday morning. You will need to report those results by Saturday night so we can get pairings out on next Monday. So you will essentially have three days to schedule and play a match. Please keep this in mind when signing up for the tourney.
The sign up process has also changed to make it a bit more streamlined. You will need to email your area organizer with your name, house, and restricted card and what area you are signing up for.
N.A. - Tourney Organizer: Dennis Harrison - Email: dh098017 at gmail.com
EU - Tourney Organizer: Alex Hynes - Email: alexanderhynes at gmail.com
All cards through A Harsh Mistress will be legal. If a new FAQ or Tournament Rules comes out, it will not affect this tournament.
There are no time limits for matches.
Matches will be best of 1 unless both players agree to something different (like best of 3).
Email your opponent asap. If you don't hear anything from your opponent by the day the results are do, email your tournament organizer and you will receive a win. If we don't hear from either player we will award a draw.
Points are as followed. Win = 5, Loss = 0, Draw = 1. I don't see us having any Mod Wins or Mod Losses, but Mod Wins are 4 and Mod losses are 1.
Any other questions please email your tourney organizer or me at [email protected] or post here.
EDIT: Crashes and Disconnects. They are bound to happen, so be prepared. In the event that they do happen, you are free to start a new game or try and recreate the game state. For the most part, work it out between yourselves. If you can't work it out, let your tourney organizer or myself know and we will work it out for you.

ill let it be known ahead of time that i accept bribes. so if you don't want a tough round1 matchup, i can be bought :)

He's really cheap too. I would just fed ex him a six pack to be honest.

Is there a deadline for sign up before the 10th?

Well, it'd probably be a good idea to be signed up by the 8th. That way we can make sure that we don't have to do any last minute pairing changes.

I'll bet he just sees what deck you're planning to run and techs against it for a first round win for himself!

I'm like 200% in for this. Hooray for Octgn tournaments not on Fridays!

****, I was hoping to make this my first OCTGN tourney but I'm going away for a week in September so I won't be able to make the match deadlines :( . Well, next time I'll join. Have fun!

Well unless you are vacationing to 1972 im sure they'll have internet wherever you are going.

There's also no reason you can't forfeit a game if you're going to miss one

Also since someone mentioned this on the other site, yes I will have an advantage over everyone because I know everyone's House and Restricted, but too bad, deal with!

Just kidding. In the interest of fairness and to ensure that I do not build my deck after seeing what the field looks like, I formally announce now that I am playing Martell Whitebook, with Fury of the Sun as my restricted.

Just kidding again.

I will be playing No Agenda Stark w/ Narrow Escape.

I just sent an e-mail to sign up, should be fun.

changed my mind after playtesting, now playing stark/fow (still agendaless)

Hopefully everyone is starting to sign up. I know this was a lot of fun last time and should be again.

Only 8 people in US bracket so far :(

I'm definitely playing, just deciding on what to play atm (testing some options etc. etc.)

I think I will play too. I have family over at the moment so testing is difficult. I'll need to choose what to play.

I'm in of course. I dunno what I'm playing yet, though!

Here is the current US Roster that I have. If you have emailed me and somehow you are not on this list, please email me again:
