Toads and mules

By markd315, in Talisman Rules Questions

Two questions:

If when you become a toad, you drop the objects, why doesnt it specify so in the rules? It says that on the toad card, but I read the whole rules twice before playing, and scoured the section on toads for 10 minutes, over and over again. I lost because I dropped all my items, and someone else got to them. It only says the thing about dropping items on the toad cards (which I didnt read.) This should be in the rules, and frankly, I'm angry that it isnt. I lost because of that. I never wouldve risked the enchanter at the city if I knew that couldve happenned. As a result of this, I lost 4 strength (from items that raise strength), a shield, a mule, 2 craft (from some crown that raises craft by 2), a runesword, and an axe, an alchemist, and a guide. I had no chance of coming close to winning after that.

Also, if you have 2 mules, is the effect compounded? The player who picked up my items said that she could now hold twelve items, because she had two mules. If this wasnt true, she wouldve only been able to pick up one of my items, and my followers.

Response question: Was this your first time playing? First rule of Talisman, never, NEVER bother with the City if you have to visit the Enchantress and have ton of good stuff with you. Rogue with Fate left to spare, that I can live with (rolling 2 dice and picking which one to use). City is like the plague when you would have to visit the Enchantress, you just don't go there. Hell, if I'm Evil and in middle of Chapel-City edge and roll a 3, I'd land in the Chapel and lose a Life (assuming I can take the hit) than move to the City if it meant rolling on the Enchantress. Of course, these days I'd just move to the Highlands, but still.

As to the Toad, I agree, I wouldn't mind seeing it in the rules, but then again, when you get a card, you're supposed to read it (or if there is a chance you'll get it, pre-read it).

Yes, they are cumulative. Excellent play if you're the Thief is the visit the Village early four times, picking up a Mule each time, leaving none in the Purchase deck demonio.gif .
