Enounter ending immediatly after goal is reached?

By /Drizzt/, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hello everyone!

Many questions popping up after our first sessions.

So my question is… does an encounter end immediately after one side accomplishes the assigned goal, or could the heros for example decide to pick up all search tokens in for example First Blood after Mauler is defeated? Or would they have to pick everything up before one side reaches the goal?

Many thanks,

Chris

I play it as the quest is done. If the heroes didn't search, they miss out.

Part of the encounter strategy is being able to decide when to search and when to fight.

Yea I agree with this. It would be totally biased toward the heroes if they got all search tokens. The thief would also be useless. I have been using tomble as the thief as one of the four heroes I use when playing a two player game. I sacrifice most of his turns to move and search, greedy helps! I use the other three as healer and damage. It is worth it in the end because his searching adds to the total gold pool. At the end of two encounters I usually have cleared 8 search tokens! The likelihood of you pulling the treasure chest search card (get an automatic shop item) increases, also the nothing search card chances increased too. But totally worth it!

Many thanks for your opinions.

And yes, that soulds totally logic to me too.

Now I'm gonna go and explain to my players :-)

Cheers,

Chris
