Quick reference sheets

By Zonkie, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

I just started playing the game after playing another game by Fantasy Flight, Descent. Someone had made some quick reference sheets for Descent and they were really helpful. Anyone know where there might be something similar to this ( http://www.headlesshollow.com/downloads/games/Descent_v2.3.pdf )

but for game of Thrones?

We laminated the pages, double sided and they were helpful even a year after we started playing.

Well there´s a faq and a tutorial. But i´m not sure if that´s waht you are looking for.

The overall complexity of the AGOT card game is higher than the Descent board game, so it would be hard to make a quick rules sheet.

~...oh, and there is of course Ktom. ;-)

I thought you said "quick" reference sheets. That is like the whole rulebook!

Perhaps the flow charts from the FAQ are closer to what you are thinking about. I don't know of anyone who has created something as detailed as that document, although some similar pages that would describe all the Keywords, the symbols (like the "infinity" symbol) and others that are being asked about often in the Rules section couldn't hurt.

Also, I'd actually like an FAQ that actually answered common questions. There are quite a few of them, and even though some seem obvious (like the difference between a Trait and a Keyword) they often get confusing for new players. Once they are straightened out they are fine, but they are literally Frequently Asked Questions.

I am just getting back into the game and there is a ton of new mechanics, words, and symbols to learn. Would be neat to have something handy in a double sided page so I didn't have to grab the rule book every 30 seconds.

Maybe I will see if I have any software better than MS Paint to copy symbols so I can make a custom cheat sheet.

i'm curious what the new symbols are. The only new ones i can think of are crests which all you have to do is match up (i.e kneel a [symbol for war crest] and you kneel a charcater with [symbol for war crest])

As coincidence would have it, I just ran into a quick reference sheet today that somebody created and posted at the Geek. The creator's BGG name is archduke; does anyone know if he/she is a forum member here? I want to make sure the right person gets credit....

At any rate, this is a one-page Word document that provides a short summary of the round sequence and a list of keywords that looks like it may be exhaustive for all eras of the game (or at a minimum, it contains some keywords that I haven't seen in the LCG cards).

Whatever the thingys are in the lower right on some cards. It's more for terminology then anything. I'm a visual learner.

It´s good to have someone trying to put a quicks rules sheet together. However i find some parts of the summarization too short and some misleading - just from a quick overview:

- Unique is explained: (banner icon) – only 1 copy in play – duplicates may be played on ‘Unique’ cards. -> it somehow implies that only one copy of a unique card could be in the whole game in play and that it´s not 1 per player.

- the flow charts from the FAQ definetely summarize the round better than the short explanations, the whole complexity of the challenge phase is ignored - order of claim, responses, renown and keywords in general, passive abilities etc.

- Infamy misses the phrase after you claim power for your house

Overall i wouldn´t use the rules documents, it´s a honorable effort, but it might lead to more confusion in the end.
