X-wing music

By Parakitor, in X-Wing

Ever since this was announced I have been feeling a keen sense of nostalgia over the old X-wing and TIE fighter video games. In fact, one of the first things I did was put my X-wing vs. TIE fighter CD-rom in my CD player to play the music. Sure, I could listen to any Star Wars music, but the CD-rom includes only the music that was played in the game. Boy, it takes me back. I'm just wondering if anybody else knew that, and I thought I'd share. If you have X-wing vs. TIE fighter, pop it in you CD player and give it a listen!

P.S. You have to start from track 2 because track 1 is a never-ending blank track.

For those who no longer have/never had that disc, you might check out the tracks on the following discs of the (latest) re-released soundtracks:

Episode IV, Disc 1

  • 3. Imperial Attack

Episode IV, Disc 2

  • 2. The Millennium Falcon/Imperial Cruiser Pursuit
  • 4. The Death Star/The Stormtroopers
  • 9. Ben Kenobi's Death/Tie Fighter Attack
  • 10. The Battle of Yavin

Episode V, Disc 1

  • 4. The Imperial Probe/Aboard The Executor
  • 5. The Battle of Hoth
  • 6. The Asteroid Field

Episode V, Disc 2

  • 1. The Imperial March
  • 3. Attacking A Star Destroyer

Episode VI, Disc 1

  • 7. The Pit of Carkoon/Sail Barge Assault
  • 9. Alliance Assembly
  • 10. Shuttle Tydirium Approaches Endor

Episode VI, Disc 2

  • 3. Brother and Sister/Father and Son/The Fleet Enters Hyperspace (after 7:23)
  • 5. The Battle Of Endor I
  • 7. The Battle Of Endor II (2:57 - 3:31)
  • 8. The Battle Of Endor III (thru 1:55, then 4:27 thru end)

Yeah, I used to keep TIE Fighter in my car for the audio tracks.

That first "track" is the game data, which yields a horrible screeching in my CD player.

Excellent play list! I've already put it in iTunes.

Nice to see someone else who likes thematic music when they play :)

Wow. You never cease to amaze me. Above and beyond the call of duty right there. Thanks for posting!

The Battle of Yavin is the ultimate X-wing music I think. I love listening to that track. I tend to bob and weave a bit in my chair while listening to it.

Thanks,

Duncan

i bought that cd collection especially for x wing. couldnt be bothered making a proper playlist from them tho, just stick them in and go.

Yeah, the dynamic music in X-Wing: Alliance was fantastic, I actually downloaded the tracks for a bit of added immersion while playing.

Do we know if there's any worthwhile soundboard apps? Artoo's "whaaaaaoooooooooo" noise would be great for ejecting an Integrated Astromech...

I have a little button that plays the Imperial March when you press it, so I keep it at my side and press it whenever an enemy ship dies...

I've also changed my default ringtone to a probe droid's signal. But who hasn't?

Me. Mine's a retro 30s Cantina Theme.

It's called

X-WING soundboard

I have it on Android but it may not exist in the app store anymore. It's perfect

So....yeah...I guess it isn't offered anymore.i can't find it. But a search for the name found a similar but not as good one that seems to be designed specifically for x wing miniatures

I converted a Hallmark Keepsake Lamda shuttle to X-Wing. Sometimes when it executes a maneuver I'll press the button to make it play the Imperial March. The engines glow blue too!

Mine is the main Star Wars theme song.

I almost got that awhile ago. Might try to hunt it down.

I enjoy just having "Star Wars" music playing during my matches, but kinda quiet like background music. I also have an explosion sound saved on my phone for when ships are killed.

It has music as well. All the usefull pieces.

Which could explain why it's been removed.

Good Lord...I need to figure out how to save my copy somehow for when it's time for a new phone.

There was a synth/metal version of the Imperial March produced for Star Wars: Force Commander. That was pretty cool, too.

'War Drums' from the start of Revenge of the Sith is a pretty awesome soundtrack, too.

There is an app called X-Wing Pew! Pew!

It has some sounds for ambient/annoyance in games. I downloaded it just for the TIE/ln roar...

Man this makes me feel old LOL.

I played (and still do) Tie Fighter every once in a while.. the iMuse system was sooooo good on the Awe32.

There was an era where a lot of games had their music as actual audio tracks on the CD (in particular, I loved listening to Age of Empires II a lot). Unfortunately, I only borrowed the X-Wing series from a friend, so I never had the CDs long enough to really listen to them separately.

A few of the tie fighter tracks have been remastered on YouTube. Worth a listen!

All eight full soundtracks on my phone and my laptop.
