"The Silicone Cup: Battle for the Bay" UFS Regional Tournament in Santa Clara, CA!!!!

By blankadude, in UFS Fan Announcements

Sweet! This is great news, the more the merrier, i say! Can't wait for this weekend to roll thru...gonna be so much fun!

(looks around for pics of the poster)

I am just WAY to exicted for this now. Should be loads of fun ^_^

Also, Archimedes, not sure if you remember me, but I ran the Makoto deck at the WCC gui%C3%B1o.gif

well, you can stop looking for the poster pics, cuz i wasn't able to get one. sorry. you will just have to wait to appreciate the awesomeness this Sat.

I live relatively close....

But as a new player with pretty limited access to cards, still be worth it to play in the tourney as a for fun/learning experience sort of a thing?

I mean it sounds fun, and random shiny objects are always a reason to drive for an hour or so, right?

i lied. here is the pic.

as for card access. i will be bringing my collection for people to use cards from and i know that if you have a specific card you need you could probably ask the guys on this thread if they have any that they would be willing to lend/sell/give you. and shinys are always a plus.

I remember the Makoto deck. And now I remember you.

It should be noted that I will not be running Ukyo this year.

Dude! Blankadude has really thought out how this Regional is going to run, and just how to reward as many players as possible for showing up and participating. If you're into UFS, this will be THE west coast event to come and throw down at, no question!

I can't imagine you would. I am not running Makoto this year either =P. But she will be with me for some casual matches gui%C3%B1o.gif

That does sound fun. Probably means I'll bring the worlds worst Siegfried deck... since I don't think I can even put together enough of Tiras stuff to hit 60 and Hilde was the one character I missed pulling from packs.

As long as I can have fun losing, I'd call it a worthwhile event.

Leaving in a few hours for the place I am staying at. God this going to be fun. I can't wait until tomorrow!

Tomorrow?!!! Already?! Sweet...

Anyway, I just threw this deck together for the tournament this week (without playtesting... haha) since I've been out of the game. Luckily, I just got the cards I needed in the mail yesterday, but I missed a few and can't get em by tomorrow so uh...

I'm hoping a generous person will let me borrow 2 Tiger Fury's and 3 Will for the Fight's?

Hell, I've give you $10 to let me buy em off you. So uh, someone let me know!!! It's urgent!!

I have Will for the Fight's you can borrow. Just ask around for Tader Salad. I'll be piloting lizardman in legacy.

so here we are. the battle for the Silicone is upon us. i look forward to seeing everyone in the ring. AROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

So, the first day of the battle over the Silicone has finished. The new champion card, Johnathan H., took top honors after an intense throwdown with Hilde.

Champion of Singles: Sazzm... with Johnathan H.

2nd place: Archamedies with Hilde

3rd place: to

4th place: Xiao Daiou

5th place: Seong-mi-na

6th place: Rockstar with Terry

7th place: to Astrid

8th place: to Frogase

props to mason piloting a very fun Sougetsu deck but taking home the "lame duck" achivement as Sougetsu's tide never fully came in. but, i give massive props to him running the deck. we also learned that Rockstar can hold out for a long time with his Terry deck; bringing him the "just hurry it up already!!!" achivement for taking the longest ammount of time to finish his matches out of everyone at the tourny.

well, off to get some sleep, see everyone in the ring at teams. g'n

Slight correction here, I played Andrew Olexa, not Xiao Daiou to take 4th place

Had a great time. Good to meet everyone i didn't already know.

Those final matches were pretty epic. I just had to do the defensive thing against hilde and hope i get more seals, chesters, tag alongs, and KFTs before you pounded my face in.

Too bad you guys didn't stick around for sunday but i comepletely understand after that drive.

Good job in teams Sean and Danny, cause everywhere from the dice roll to killing people i seemed to fail, lol.

3rd was Zi Mei by Adrian (no forum name)

and 7th was run by Matt (no forum name)

Both part of my play group and my team mates for teams on Sunday =P. I had LOADS of fun!! Can't wait for the next tourny.

Props to Blankadude and Rockstar for making it one of the best times i've ever had playing UFS. These guys are pro friends and have like +1000000 karma coming their way. Also thanks to Sal and Dart for playing teams with me you guys are beasts. It's funny.....I've played in more Magic: The Gathering PTQ's than I can count; won a regionals and went to nationals. In every instance it was serious business. You play straight faced, every mistake penalized cutthroat business time (don't get me wrong not baggin on magic I actually thrive on the seriousness of it sometimes). If you beat someone after a match sometimes you would be lucky to get a handshake. After our UFS regionals I felt that there was not ONE person in the room I would not like to hang out with/invite over to my home. With 12 symbols, a multitude of character choices, and the concept of diversity UFS still gives me the opportunity to be creative, exploit every advantage my analytical mind can come up with, test my skills vs. some top contenders, all the while enjoying a player base that can blow other games out of the water. There were only two downsides: 1. There always could be more ppl :) (I tried so hard to get more from my area) and 2. The event had to end. No way to stop the latter, but I'm always working on the former. Next time will be even better. Thanx guys, see you soon!
