yes this is a very nub question but cards that have the melee can you only use them when playing a melee game and obiviously opposite with joust only play in a joust game? and joust is one on one melee is four players right?

Well, the "joust format" is one-on-one and the "melee format" is 3 or more players. But when the words appear on the card, they are keywords, not deck-building restrictions. (The Champions CPs are supposed to have rules inserts.)

"Joust" means that when the character is attacking alone, the defending opponent can only declare 1 defender.

"Melee" means that when the character is participating in a challenge (attacking or defending), it gets +1 STR for each other participating character controlled by an opponent.
