aGoT Party bus DC -→ Minn for World's in Nov.

By dcdennis, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Obviously this is way far in advance but there is a budding interest here in renting an RV type vehicle and making the trip to World's in November picking up people en route and having a big aGoT tourney along the way in the back (or just pick up games obviously). If anyone lives along the general route from DC -> Minn and has even a slight interest in this let me know and I can investigate potential costs etc…

I am not sure if the fuel and rental fees would be more cost effective than a flight+hotel+rental car but that should be relatively easy to determine. The RV would also double as lodging so it'd be one stop shopping.

EDIT:
Early Estimate on Total Costs:
Base RV Rental Fee (Largest Size "7 passenger sleeper") - $475
Mileage Surcharge @ [$0.34/mile] x [~2,200miles] Round Trip - $750
Est. Fuel Costs @ [2,200miles] / [~12mpg] = [185gals] x [~$3.75/gal] - ~$700.
TOTAL EST. COST - $1,925

Being a part of an EPIC aGoT ROAD TRIP? …. PRICELESS.

Looks like 7 could sleep but many more could hitch a ride. **** this might be worth the expense just for the story. And in answer to all the emails I have gotten so far, the amount to be chipped in per person will definitely be based on where you get picked up/dropped off so if you only live a few hours away you wouldn't be expected to kick in as much.

I am possibly interested…

Wow, I am definitely interested, but cannot commit this early. I think the other three NYC regulars would be interested as well. We would pick up the trip early if not at the start.

if we get a full bus of reservations btw nyc and dc we can alter the travel route to meet somewhere in the middle maybe.

I'm definitely interested. I need to talk to the rest of the group though. I think this might be TOO popular lol

One slight issue i just thought of is there would be no running water for showers so we'd either have to borrow someones hotel bathroom or nab a cheap campsite nearby (which would offer the double bonus of thrones by CAMPFIRE and roasted marshmellows!).

Depending on where you guys do the split on the trip, if you stopped in Indiana I could definitely offer up my driveway as a place to park and my facilities/hospitality.
