I ordered mine on Monday the 20th, it shipped on the 22nd, received it Friday the 24th - USPS to Austin, Texas. I haven't had a chance to digest it yet, but it looks awesome!

Lucky! I ordered mine on the 21st and nothing. Still pending and I live about 3 hours from you in Texas. I guess there is no logic to their shipping methods.

Ordered on the 20th, USPS, haven't heard anything yet. This is rather lame for Priority Shipping.

With both GenCon AND Celebration, it really shouldn't be that shocking that they are lagging way behind.

Mine's at Heathrow as of the 24th - unfortunately, though, I'm unlikely to receive it by Monday, as that's a bank holiday. >_< Tuesday, then?

Not like they didn't know they were going to be busy with those two shows and could have made arrangements. And it's not like they had no idea what kind of demand they'd get.

Still sitting at "Pending Shipping," no email, nothing in my junk folder. My local game store is getting copies, so there's a very real chance I could have just waited the same amount of time, bought it at the store, and saved twelve bucks in shipping.

First, I'm not saying they shouldn't have prepared better, I'm just saying no one should be surprised. There's a difference.

And actually, I'd bet they didn't know the demand there'd be. $30 for an unfinished book could have gone either way. They also don't deal with a lot of orders like this--how often do you buy directly from FFG, after all? People usually go for FLG or some online retailer where they can save 20-30%.

Again, I'm not saying they aren't handling this poorly, just that I'm not the least bit shocked it turned out like this.

Well I guess being told it "should go out either today or tomorrow" this past Friday is just the company line to keep buyers happy.

What really upsets me is the priorty mail. I paid $10 for shipping with no option for other methods. You order priorty to get it shipped FAST.

I Placed this order on the 20th (a week ago come tomorrow) paid for priority mail and it still hasn't even shipped yet. I dont care how good this book is it's not worth the lousy customer service.

And I guarantee you that they aren't paying more than 5-6 bucks for it, probably less since it would easily fit in a flat rate priority envelope. They should probably have hired temps to handle shipping.

sithlordRPGA: You said, "you order priority to get it shipped FAST." Correction: You order Priority so that, once it ships, the TRANSIT TIME is fast. Given that these were done through a preordering process before they even showed up at GenCon, it was feasible to assume some level of delay at the start. Priority mail ordering never automatically assumes a truncated "handling" time or shortened preorder duration, unless explicitly stated. Priority mail is simply a speed of delivery method once in the hands of the USPS. In order to actually receive service in this case that does not match what was paid for in terms of shipping method, you'd have to find, upon receipt, that it was shipped by some other method (media mail, first class, etc.).

I absolutely understand your frustration, having been part of Wulven Games' Shadow Era preorder fiasco, but let's stay intellectually honest here, ey?

Dulahan: They certainly aren't paying USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope prices. The package itself is about 13" x 11.5" x 4", with the FFG logo (not a USPS box), with the postage paid through Stamps.com for Priority Mail. To have used a flat rate box of the appropriate size (since none of the envelopes would work without risking damage) would have cost $0.30 more than was charged for Priority Mail shipping ($11.05) in the U.S. At best, running the numbers, zones, and weight on the shipping sticker, they would have spent somewhere around $9.00 to ship from their zone to mine (MN to GA). Given the way USPS zones work for priority, that sounds about average.

What would be more interesting overall would be to determine in what order shipments were being sent, based upon the order date and shipment date. THAT might provide some insight into when one should be getting angsty about "late" shipping or not, relative to whatever shipping order was used.

I think you need to wrap your head around what USPS Priority Mail means.

It's the USPS, not UPS. Priority mail means "we'll try to get it there in two to three days, maybe".

Priority = basic shipping service

Express = overnight

Parcel Post = slow and no less cost than Priority

Media Mail = For those that have brought this up, is for educational material only.

Go take a look people, it's not that difficult .

FFG is not Amazon. They finished GenCon on the 19th, they may or may not have been back in the offices on the 20th.

Then you say you didn't order it until the 20th. What about the people who ordered it on the 17th, 18th, and 19th?

We ordered on the 20th enough books to outfit our entire group (Which is a first as a group for any RPG release ever!) and still haven't been notified that our orders have shipped. Its not a big deal because we understand the after con time is a little slow for everyone and the massive amount of orders for this game. I just hope they extend the beta a little bit to allow groups to actually get their copies of the book. We're all really anxious to dive into this game.

Reading through the thread, people who ordered it on or even AFTER the 20th have already RECEIVED their books, using Priority. Let alone all the UPS ones that have been shipped too.

Anyone else notice no one from FFG has even taken a moment to come on these boards and address this issue. If it was just me complaining fine but a lot of people have questioned whats going on with the shipping.

Second I dont care about cons or what not. There is another much smaller buisness I deal with HistoricalBoardGaming they ship there orders within 2-3 days of your order. They send you a email when your order is shipped. Now I undertsand FFG (I'm sure) got a ton of orders for this game more then HBG propally deals with at a time. However HBG had a new product arrive just before Gencon. But they clearly stated any order placed on WED (before Gencon) till the Sunday of Gencon would not be shipped until the monday/tuesday after gencon. This included all the pre-orders for the new product. They took Gencon and realized it would effect shipping and clearly took a moment to mention it to all their customers.

I have placed orders with them the monday after Gencon and recieved my item this past Friday.

FFG is not being responsable with this pre-order or how they are handling the orders in shipping them out.

1-They never said there would be a delay in shipping which is just poor buisness.

2-The only offer priority mail which again is poor buisness why not offer some options.

3-Seeing people who ordered after me that already have their books or at least got notices that their books shipped shows they have no system for how orders are being filled, it's obviously not first come first serve.

4-They already have the product all they have to do it is put it in package and mail it out. Like I mentioned before I have an online buisness and whenever I have items for sale I have them in a ready spot so that when they are sold all I have to do is package them up, label them and ship them out, it's not really that hard.

To be fair, FFG never really has a presence on their boards as a policy.

Ordered mine on the 17th. I got a shipping notice on the 23rd. Haven't received it yet. I'm not concerned.

Be patient.

Packing and shipping is a very time consuming process. There is only so fast any number of people can go in getting a product out the door, especially one where they have had a huge influx of orders in a very short time.

Obviously….

Ever had thousands of orders come in within 3 days? Do you realize how long it takes to pack and ship that kind of volume? There are only so many hours in a day.

Lets do some math….

We will estimate that it takes 5 minutes to pack and label a box. So 12 per hour, per person. Five minutes is on the absolute optimal side in my mind.

8 Hour day, minus 2 hours for lunch, meetings, breaks, email, phone calls, and other general slowdowns that happen. So we have maybe 6 hours of productive non-stop shipping time per person.

6 hours x 12 boxes = 72 packages per day, per person.

Lets guess FFG has maybe 3 people in the warehouse, i have no idea. That works out to 5 days of non-stop packing and shipping for 3 people to ship out just 1,000 packages. Do you think they have only 1,000 orders through their website?

As I recall, there were three options when I ordered. It just happened that priority mail was the lesser of those three options. There *were* choices, just not choices you preferred, yes?

It's not that they are lagging behind. The problem is that there is no rhyme or reason to when then are shipping books out. People have ordered and received within three or four days, while others have used the same shipping method and ordered on the same day still haven't had theirs shipped out. It feels like the orders are getting filled completely at random with no explanation given.

Bingo.

No I only had the Priorty option, trust me I looked for different options.

I have seen some people on these boards say they had options and others say they had no option so that leads me to believe they changed shipping options at some point.

I ordered on the 20th and received my shipping notification this morning.

Still waiting on mine. Makes me very, very frustrated to have paid 30.00 for shipping 3 day select.

YAY!

Ordered on the 20th (got my order verification @ 1321).

Got my shipping notification today @ 1309!

I'll have it go over during the Vols first game of the season (and the Buckeyes too!) w00t!

Got my notification, so long as the PO picks it up, hopefully will get it tomorrow. Finally!

Yep, just got my notification this morning as well.

Didn't someone say the books were going to retailers on the 27th as well?

Just got my update. So… I should have them on wendsday? (fingers crossed)
