How about some uglies for an expansion? Who wouldn't want to fly a Die-wing into combat?

I'm not sure if FFG will go for that, but I'd like to see some customs of those, if there are fans out there with enough surplus money to cut up their excess fighters.

Order 66 existed already on Star Wars archives and Novel, I like the explanatory part of the Empire rising story, but not the movie prequels.
If I had known earlier that my screen name would have generated such a debate on you I would have chosen another one.
No worries, I was just giving you a hard time. Trust me, my brothers and wife are MUCH harder on me most of the time
I think that while there were some good concepts in the Star Wars Prequels, the writing and execution were terrible.
I must agree with you, there were good and interesting concepts, but acting was horrible (Anakin, Obi one, and Palpatine specially)…
I would say the bad acting was more a result of bad scripting than anything else. If I could make my own Star Wars prequels, I would still cast Ewan, Ian, and Liam. Probably even Natalie. I wish he had waiting just a bit longer to make them. One of the Hemsworth brothers would have made a fine Anakin. No Jar-Jar. The Clone Wars would be completely different in my interpretation, at least in the way that they were started. R2D2 and C3P0 would probably not be in it (Jet pack R2!?!?!). No pod-racing. I could go on for hours, actually.

The pod racing had potential. Understanding that street racing is near and dear to Lucas' heart helped me embrace it a bit more, but it was a rather long and tedious part of the movie.

Maybe its my personal view but I still see Anakin (the worse Star Wars actor, really bad interpretation of the character), Ewan Mcgregor (he is a a joker, i mean in the original movie Obi One was a serious guy not a funny one) and Prequel Palpatine (the battle with Yoda was hilarious and his scream when Mace Windu almost kills him is ridiculous).
Agree; no Jar Jar or at least not a clowny, clumsy alien that speaks weird. No R2D2 jet pack, and no C3PO head on a droid's body trying to kill the jedis…

It would be nice to see the pirate faction (Kavil's Corsairs) using some uglies, there are quite a few of those "amalgamations" that look really cool.
It will be interesting to see if they turn to the prequels or the EU first for more fighters. As a side note, are the movement dials the same for all pilots for a ship type? For example does the rookie pilot know the same maneuvers as Wedge? If so it might be interesting to have an upgraded dial for a few more points that shows the skills he has learned.

I think that I liked MacGregor in the role because Sir Alec Guinness was a much more comedic actor in his early films and tended to take more serious roles later. My feeling is that he would have had a more careless attitude prior to Anakin's betrayal. Remember, Obi-Wan hinted that he was once less mature.
Also, I forgot about that terrible 3P0 scene. *shudder*
And yes, Palpatine was wasted. He was pretty good until he turned "Mwahahahaha evil." He should have just played the same role as the first two movies with just a little more malevolence. He was actually good at being manipulative, but the leap that Anakin took to become evil was a huge stretch. Really, the conversation (as the story unfolded) should have gone like this.
Anakin: I will serve you, Master. Help me save Padme.
Palpatine: Actually, I don't know how to do that, but we can figure it out.
Anakin: Ummmm. Okay? So, you don't actually know how to use this power you've been tempting me with? I'm out, dude.

I was talking with my brother-in-law and he reminded me of a really important part of the equation that made the original movies better: Harrison Ford. Even the original trilogy was written poorly. Mark Hamill said that the first time he read through the script he thought to himself, "Who talks like that?" Harrison Ford is said to have told Lucas, "You can write this stuff, but I'm not gonna say it." I think much of the witty awesomeness in the dialogue of the original trilogy was spearheaded by Ford.
But I think that after Lucas became a big shot with the success of the first movies none of the actors wanted to say it to his face. Don't get me wrong, I've embraced the prequels as part of the Star Wars saga, but there are definitely parts that make me cringe.
While we're discussing the "prequels that might have been," one of the reasons I'm annoyed by the fixture of FFG's new RPG in the Classic era is because I had wanted to run a campaign exploring that very idea; that is, a series of adventures that re-imagine the prequels by using the clues found in the Original Trilogy to extrapolate what occurred previously.
For example, in The Empire Strikes Back, Obi-Wan's spirit refers to Yoda as "the Jedi master who instructed me." I interpret that to mean that Yoda was his master, not Qui-Gon Jinn. (And I say that as a huge fan of Liam Neeson's character, mind you. I'm going purely on what the OT would have one believe.) Let's say that, as a young child, Obi-Wan is discovered by Qui-Gon Jinn and taken on as a Padawan. Unfortunately, the latter is eventually struck down by a mysterious Sith warrior a few years later, leaving Obi-Wan masterless. No other Jedi wants to take him on, fearing his judgment has been clouded by Qui-Gon's radical views. As a result, Obi-Wan is bound for the Agri-Corps to live out a life of relative obscurity. It is at this time that Yoda decides to step down from the Jedi Council and train Obi-Wan himself, not wanting the boy's strength to be wasted.

I don't see how prequel ships would fit in. If you had to include something it would be the ROTS Jedi fighter for the rebels and the Vwing? for the imperials maybe. No droid star fighters! I hope they keep them out. Go to the EU instead.
I think the prequals will get their own starter set themed to the Clone Wars. I full expect that to happen as some point becuase the Clone Wars offers lots of good fighters and dogfighting opportunites with more ships. Once the basic ships from the OT are out, they would have to go EU to keep up, but as mentioned many times, that has some limitations. Some things should be easy, Z-95, TIE Defender, etc. But they is not that much that would be universally sellable to Star Wars fans.
Clone wars is hot right now, and there are lots of good ships there. I personally look forward to Droid Tri-Fighters and ARC-170s.
Thanks,
Duncan

the answer is lazy directing and over emphasis in taking care of it in post.

Yes, Christensen is terrible, but really? OT Obi Wan? Serious? Are we talking about the same "Well of course I know him. He's me!" Obi Wan Kenobi? Though he is a bit serious, this hints at PT Obi Wan. And, in case you haven't forgotten, PT Palpatine IS OT Palpatine. Come on, don't you remember Ian McDiarmad hamming it up good and proper in RotJ? I'm not seeing that much difference here. And I'll definitely give you Jar Jar. The only redeeming moment for him is in The Clone Wars, where the Separatists think he's a Jedi and try to kill him for the whole episode. And he's still a little annoying there.
Anyways, sorry to contribute to the derailing of the thread. As far as future expansions, the one pilot I am REALLY looking forward to is Kyle Katarn. The only problem is, what ship would FFG be willing to release that he would pilot? Guess we'll see, hopefully.

I thought the only time he piloted anything was when he piloted the Raven's Claw to escort Jaden Korr, his apprentice, around the galaxy. Jan Ors was usually the pilot for him. But he is a well-known persona.

Well, I suppose he wasn't so much of a pilot… but he was going to be an officer in the Imperial Navy. That's got to count for something, right?

Don't agree with you on the first part, I still don't see the similarity between them.
I would also like to see Mara Jade from the EU although I'm not sure if she was a pilot apart from being an assassin…

Mare jade skywalker had her own custom z95 in the hold of her bigger ship that luke and ben skywalker took on their journeys in the fate of the jedi novel series, after her death. i presume she used this during the rebel/imperial timeframe.
I seem to remember Mara Jade flying a Z-95 on Myrkr when she was first introduced in Heir to the Empire (at least, I think that was the first reference where she shows up). She's always been my first pick for a Z-95 pilot. Bossk would be good, too.

Hey! That's exactly what I was thinking! But I didn't post because I thought it wouldn't work to have one "Rebel" (Mara) and one "Imperial" (Bossk) pilot in a single pack. But now that I think about it, Mara was still "Imperial" during the Galactic Civil War, so that could work. It'd be cool to see Bossk's Nashtah Pup represented as a miniature.
But there's still a problem: the Imperials have always outnumbered Rebels in craft variety whenever we have these discussions, so I had been hoping the Z-95 Headhunter would go to the Rebels. It could be analogous to the TIE Fighter in that it's a cheap ship you can swarm with. But the Imps don't really need a ship like that; the Rebels could use it, though.
Here are some other OT possibilities (the ships are EU, but not the characters):
Hound's Tooth (Bossk's ship - a modified Corellian Engineering Corporation YV-666 light freighter)
Punishing One (Dengar's ship - a JumpMaster 5000)
IG-2000 (IG-88's ship - a modified Aggressor assault fighter)
Mist Hunter (Zuckuss' ship - a modified G-1A starfighter)
Lady Luck (Lando's ship - a SoroSuub Personal Luxury Yacht 3000)
4-LOM's ship (couldn't find the name or details)

There's nothing saying they can't release ships with pilots included for multiple factions. That might work better with the lesser known ships.
It would be nice to have the two options; Imperial Mara, and Rebel Mara (Luke's wife etc.) And yeah, totally agree I would like very much seeing Bossk, one of the coolest bounty hunters apart from Boba. What ship does he (Bossk) pilot?
Forgot to mention it. Don't you guys think bounty hunters should be available for any of the two factions not only the Empire? They are supposed to be "neutral" as they work for the one that offers them the job and money…

"Hound's Tooth."
