All together now: TAL - IS - MAN! TAL - IS - MAN! TAL - IS - MAN!

I'd love to see the City as more of an enhancement for the rest of the current game, including all previous expansions, rather than a new exploration/leveling region. If the assumption could be made that the player already owned all previous expansions we could see the city as more of a hub not only for quickly traveling throughout the regions but for a reason to travel to them in the first place. Maybe you need to source a key to open the lair of the Lord of Darkness from the city, visit a powerful magician to change the day to night or directly buy randomly drawn dragon scales from a mysterious merchant.

The reasoning is that in my games at least, the regions are more of an optional sidetrack without specific objectives (Other than leveling in general or jumping from the end of the Dungeon to the end game) and have little to no interaction with each other or the base game board. I do like them but I wish they had more purpose and formed a complete story arc between each other, and I think a central hub like the city could achieve this.

Anyway, the expansion is probably at the printers already so it doesn't matter in the long run. If it's the complete opposite of this and turns out just to be a new region with a new card set I'm still going to buy it the second it's released. Need more details asap!

On the subject, can you preorder?

I think it's not at the printer yet, otherwise the expansion should already be announced.

you speak my language! Cool ideas! I 'll stop talking about Banks now, Mysterious merchants, moneylenders (with an enforcer named Guido!) and much mayhem!

I think a bank could be a great idea! I imagine you could have 2 vault spaces a player could choose to deposit gold on (receiving some kind of writ object that can be used to reclaim it). Whenever the time of day changes, the gold could earn interest accruing a larger amount over time. A new lock pick object could be introduced to the Higlands deck which allows any player to claim the amount inside. This way, we have 3 expansions tied together and also a mechanic that can send a player from 1 region to another with a specific purpose (rob the bank!).

I would love to be able to rob a bank, but I guess if you are a good or neutral, the consequence would be you would change to Evil.

Or you have to donate a large part to some church or the urchins in the street etc. Hmmm, that reminds me of the Beggar who is really the King (2nd Ed).

Lol, now I've had a chance to read older posts I realise that a lot of my ideas have been suggested before! (mostly Oberon). Good to see others already think this would be a good direction to go i. If FFG has been paying attention we just might get these implemented in The City after all. Excited!

All of you… and the game, inspire me.

Geeesh, why am I the last one to hear this cool stuff :).

It's okay…. we're all just spinning our wheels, waiting for any REAL news. again: TAL-IS-MAN! TAL-IS-MAN! TAL-IS-MAN!

I am not used to this. It seems that though I looked forward to each release, its only been since halfway between Dragon 'out' and the news/release of Blood Moon, that I've gotten so fanatical over it.

Now, when you look at the Upcoming area it indicates that there are color codings for stages from pretty much conceptual to 'shipped/available;.

Does that mean that when FFG finally posts City as upcoming, there will be a corresponding 'color' bar attached to this news in that area?

But if the box as concept art was already available, than this should have been noted in the upcoming section with appropriate color code marking progress.

Right?

Fantasy Flight is only adding the City expansion to the upcoming page, when they announce it.

We can only wait when they are doing that. And then you see those color bars in the upcoming page.

But if they finally announce the city, then we are 3 month´s further when it is available.

There's general disdain for the old Master Class characters, but using a similar concept, I wonder if the City will let you acquire a secondary skill / special ability to add to a character's basic skills.

This might work if each character could gain only one secondary ability (and maybe from a separate "rewards" deck so it is obtained randomly).

I certainly don't see why not. We have Quest reward cards that increase attributes or affect other mechanics, so some other deck to give such abilities:

Master Swordsman; able to use to sword/like weapons with an advantage

Master Hypnotist; able to evade enemies under certain Craft level?

Master Diplomant; [must be of Neutral alignment] Able to influence certain outcomes, intercede in certain situations, convince Followers to forsake a character (now that would be cool) and go to another

This is a nice idea to add to the game.

Maybe you could buy it for 6 gold or something. It must not be so cheap.

Ok this is driving me nuts now.. Why was there just a front pic taken at Gen Con without a back pic.. I mean come on hehehe.

There was no back to take a picture of.

Well, technically there was, but it was exactly the same as the front!

FFG were extra special sneaky and used a double-fronted "mock box" for the display.

I think the tension is getting to me, maybe everyone else too? where is it? Where.is.it?

Tal-is-man! Tal-is-man! Tal-is-man!

Soooo, any news? Getting apprehensive here…

We've tried being patient, time for something else?

"We won't buy the City, unless you release it - NOW!" (sure that's going to help, right?)

I predict an announcement about the City Expansion this week, according to Mystic Meg that is lol
