Can Someone at GenCon Please Post Ship Maneuver Dials for Expansion Packs?

By El_Tonio, in X-Wing

Ideally, it would be a pic of a chart like the one at the end of the instructions if something like that also comes in the expansion pack (see below). But, even a pic of the dials would be great.

I think we would just need them for the Y-Wing and TIE Advanced. Thanks!

The video demo posted in a nother thread here shows at least the Y-wing dial. I am still watching to see if the TIE advanced is shown.

I have the y-wing one in front of me now.

at speed 4 it can only go straight and u-turn (not the real manevers name), both are red

at speed 3 it can go straight and do both turns, but the sharp turns are red

at speed 2 it can go straight and do both turns, but straight is gree

at speed 1 it can only go straight and make shallow turns. straight is green.

I'll post the Tie Advanced when I get back to my room.

Here goes for the TIE Advanced

speed 5 straight only

speed 4 straight and u-turns (u-turn red)

speed 3 straight and all turns (straight green)

speed 2 straight ans all turns (straight green)

speed 1 soft turn only (green)

The u-turn is not included in all turns

Comparing the maneuver dials, I think that the speed and manoeuvrability of the starfighters is being represented closer to the specs given in the Star Wars RPG games (both the West End Games D6 and Wizards D20 system) than the Lucasarts' space sims. In the computer games, the Y-wing was noticeably slower and sluggish than the X-wing, while in the miniatures game it seems the Y-wing can match the X-wing performance provided you are willing to take stress tokens. If they follow this trend, the B-wing should be slower than the Y-wing, instead of the computer games uberfighter that makes completely obsolete the Y-wing when it becomes available.

Thanks Hrathen. If I am understanding you correctly, this would be the maneuver dial for the Y-Wing and Tie Advance (sorry some of the arrows are a little rough). Let me know if I've made any mistakes and I'll fix ASAP if so.

Thanks for the graphics Tony

Wow, the Y-Wing is a real slug. I imagine the B-Wing is going to even worse, it will be interesting how they take into account the 360 Degree rotation of that ship around the cockpit.

My guess: they will have the Barrel Roll action to simulate the fact that the whole ship can rotate to one side or the other about the cockpit. They'll probably have something more clever, but that would be one simple way to work it.

Hm, that's odd, from a physical point of view … because the ship has much more mass and thus inertia than the cockpit, shouldn't it just be the cockpit rotating within its mount, rather than the entire ship rotating around the cockpit?

Don't be silly everbody knows there's no physics in Star Wars
