I just got the opportunity to play Twilight Imperium 2nd edition. I know that the answer is most likely never, but I was wondering if there is any hope that there will be a reprint of the second edition. While in the same universe and similar theme, the two games are fundamentally different. Both games are great and I hope to add them both to my collection someday.
Twilight Imperium 2nd edition nostalgia
I've never known any company to reprint a previous edition of a game after the release of a new one. I think the best you could hope for would be a 4th edition which harkens back to the mechanics of 2e.
Of course, there doesn't seem to be a lot of fan outcry about the changes made 3e, so I'm guessing even that would be a long-shot. I'd start combing through the flea markets and online used-products-websites if you really want a copy of 2e. Or perhaps, if you have access to a copy of the 2e rules, you could put together a variant rule set for 3e that brings back the elements you want to reproduce…
I know the chances are zero, but I am a constant wishful thinker.

I'm doing this to get a copy of the second edition. But I do love shiny new things.
The 3rd edition is an excellent game. But it is a very different game. I was just getting a little foggy eyed when I was checking out the Upcoming Merchant of Venus with the old version of the game and the newer updated version which appear pretty different in the same box.
