Hope the lucky one's at Gencon can answer some ?s:

Approx how big are the minis?

The TIEs in the video look bent already. How fragile are these and do they come out of the pack that way? (doubtful)

Are the turrets in the demo a planned product and actually have rules or are they for show?

What is meant by Large surprises as listed in the rules?

How's the pace of the game?

Thanks for the info.

The figs a little bigger than the old Wizards of the Cost ones.

None of my figs are bent too bad. If you look really close at the laiser cannons on the x-wings you can see that they are not perfectly parallel, but they are straight. The TIE Advanced and the Y-wing looks beautiful (as much as you can hope for on a prepaited fig). The solar pannels on the TIE look pretty straight to me. They are very ridged. I don't know how easy they are to break, I haven'ty seen any break yet. They feel pretty strong, but obviously I haven't tested to see how far they go.

I saw the death star map that someone at FFG put together. It was beautiful, but I have not played a demo on it. I assume they have some sort of house rules. they are not in the main rule book.

We don't know what the "large surprise" is yet. At least I don't.

I actually haven't played it yet, but I am in the tournament tomorrow. I will give updates on the pace (and all the rest of my impressions) tomorrow.

Over all I am totally happy with the game so far. It is far from sold out. If I have any regrets, it was wating in line for two hours before 10:00. It was so crowded in there in the morning, and when I went back latter in the afternoon, there was plenty of stuff left.

Thx for the info. Keep it coming.

If anyone can post the offical names and point costs for the non-unique Y-Wing and TIE Advanced pilots, that would help. I think they are Gold Squardon, Grey Squadron, Storm Squadron, and Tempest Squadron. Upgrade bars would be good too, but I am assuming they are standard for the ship.

thanks,

Duncan

Hey Duncan what happened to your spreadsheet? The link doesn't work anymore.

Wow, what an update. Fantastic man!

Duncan, I thing there's an error on your spreadsheet in the Maneuver Dials section. For the standard TIE fighter the two reds for the Koiogran Turn should be at speeds 3 and 4, not 4 and 5.

It's a fantastic resource, thanks for the hard work & enjoy Celebration VI!

Thanks, I will check it out when I get home. I may even have some ships by then. Depends on if I can maintan my self control at C6 and not buy more of the game than I already have coming via my preorder. :)

Thanks,

Duncan

I did manage to restrain myself at GenCon, I only bought 1 core and 6 fighters instead of 2 cores and 6 fighters. That second batch is still coming my way when they hit retail.

Also if you're interested in filling in your spreadsheet early, I've got all the details here now: http://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/145226/x-wing-miniatures-game-rules-compendium-faq

After staying up until 3:00am, Friday morning, building my squad for the Inaugural Tournament later that morning; it donned on me that FFG needs to come up with an online squad builder, and/or an iOS/Android app.

I eventually tried one of the "sample" squads that FFG posted online just before the con, with not-so-great results.

I finally decided to run: Biggs Darlighter w/ R2D2 and a Proton Torpedo, "Dutch" Vander w/ R5K6 and 2 Proton Torpedoes, and Garvin Dries w/ R2F2 and a Proton Torpedo. In hindsight, I should have dropped one torpedo (4 points) for "Dutch", and added the ion cannon (5 points). Now I know, . . . .

All and all, it was a fun experience. Can't wait for WAVE 2 to drop.

Hey Steve, think we played in Round 4. You had the washed Y-wing and was planning to repaint it green, I believe?

Yeah, in my (fairly limited) testing, the ion cannon is huge for the Y-Wing. The ability to fire in any direction helps negate the TIEs' maneuverability advantage. I've been experimenting with Y-Wing plus R2-D2. It turns them into even more of a damage sponge.

Hey gang,

With a little help from my friends and seeing the actual stuff at Celebration VI, I have updated my spreadsheet to contain all the data on the pilots and upgrades. The link is in my signature below.

thanks,

Duncan

Thanks a lot Vadersson!!!
