2 quick questions

By Slothgodfather, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Using the Kindly Man to bring Viper's Bannermen into play obviously can trigger the 2 cards "revealed" response. However, when they are returned to the discard pile "at the end of the phase" I assume, since there is no opportunity for responses, that a player would not get 2 additional cards "on the way out"?

Also, I am very certain I know the answer to this, but just so I have a reference when I am questioned on it again: Put into play effects, such as Manning the City Walls, can bipass Shadows correct?

1. Correct

2. Correct. Look at the put into play restrictions. It must be an in house army. That's it.

And any "put into play" effect bypasses Shadows.

From FAQ I think you can response "at the end of the phase", since "XXX phase ends" is a framework action and step 5 of a framework action is response.

You can understand the whole thing like this: the former discard is a passive ability of Viper's Bannermen which should be triggerd at step 4, and before it leaves play at step 6, you can trigger its response at step 5.

" (2.6) End of the Phase
Each end-of-the-phase Framework Action
Window should be played without step
two (Save/Cancel) and without step five
(Responses). No triggered effects can be
played after the initiation of the end of the
phase."

So no, you cannot use responses "at the end of the phase" because there is no Step 5 in "XXX phase ends" framework action windows.

Ah, you got me. Thank you for the clarification.
