Invincible warrior?

By kiper32, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

An interesting build was made in our group. Basically the night took the stalwart ability combined with the mace of kelos and mana weave. This meant that anytime he was killed he could move and attack and if he rolled a surge then recovered one health. If he did not roll a surge then he could use the mana weave to gain a surge and recover one health. This made him near invincible since it was rare that he did not roll at least one surge to begin with. There was actually a moment of debate as to whether this was allowable or if he was required to be knocked out after the attack. We decided this was allowable and I think partly because it was just a cool build.

Another question that was brought up was if the iron ring allowed you to add a shield for a blank die roll even if you rerolled that die after getting the blank or if the blank had to be the final result. Just curious how others are playing it.

Close, but this isn't horseshoes. You're missing one key point of the Stalwart card. Last sentence: "After the attack is resolved, you are knocked out." That doesn't sound optional KO'd is KO'd. Defeated. Max Wounds. Max Fatigue. Doesn't matter if you had 3 wounds or 0 wounds. Of course, if you want to house rule it, like you suggested, don't complain about invincible warriors. However, I do agree that it is a "cool build", which shows that the players are always thinking. There is one person in my group that can also stretch the tiniest thread. I have fun listening to his presentations, then saying "No."

This last statement made me laugh … very hard. ALL of my Hero players fit this mold. Sometimes I think I am playing with lawyers. Unfortunately for me, saying "No" never ends it. But then, I guess I like a good debate as well. LOL.

One member of our gaming group is a lawyer, many of us are "computer scientists" of one stripe or another, with one molecular biologist thrown in. The discussions can get pretty involved, but all of us have a sense of humor & are there to have fun. We look for conciseness & consistency in a good set of game rules, but realize the fallibility of human endeavor. happy.gif
