Can someone give me hand on figuring out the following example/scenario:
Chaos is attcking a Dwarven Battlefield with 2 Savage Gors, 1 Savage Marauder, and 1 Dark Zeolot. Because thier battlefield has 2 developments, each Savage Gor gains 2 hammers. So the attacking units now have a total of 9 hammers (as opposed to 5 because of card effects). Chaos also has 0 resources to pay for anything with.
Dwarves choose to defend with Defender of the Hold, Runesmith, and King Kazador. - These defenders have a total of 8 HP.
Because King Kazador can't be targeted by the Gor's card effects, how does assigning damage break down?
My crazy guess was this: If the Runesmith and Defender of the Hold each absorb 1 damage, they are discarded and 7 damage remain, but is it really only 3 damage (5 original hammers minus the 2 to kill Defender and Runesmith?) Or can Chaos claim it used two of their "extra hammers" on Defender and Runesmith, and now attack Kazador with the "original" five? In this case, they'd be assigning a total of 7 damage, leaving 2 "on the table".
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
