Rules Clarification

By sahandriel, in Warhammer Invasion Rules Questions

I just bought the starter for this game and after playing a few games I had a few questions.

For cards with Italic words on them such as Quest, Kingdom, and Battlefield can those actions only be taken in that phase or in any phase on your turn.

And if that is the case then how does the dwarf quest in the start work because it targets attacking enemy units, but it has the Quest word in Italics in front of it.

Second, this one might is kind of lame, do you HAVE to have a wizard/priest/sorcerer in play to cast spells, I know in the miniature game the army can dispel magic just not cast any.

For Toughness does it apply to all damage, including indirect? I know the rulebook said assigned damage that is not uncancelable.

Sorry for the bombardment of questions I just need this cleared up.

Italicized text such as Battlefield, Kingdom or Quest followed by effects or actions simply means that they can only trigger or be triggered if they are played (or if they later are moved) into the zone in question . As an example, A Glorious Death can only trigger its actions (both of them) while it is in the Quest zone (same with Dwarf Ranger etc). Such actions can be taken as often as the action in question allows it and all requirements are met - i.e. costs, timing, valid targets etc.

So yes , A Glorious Death can trigger after attackers have been declared (note that it doesn't necessarily be enemy attacking units, could potentially synergize well with Dwarf Rangers as an example) and at every opportunity until the end of the current battlefield phase.

Spells don't require any kind of special unit to be in play.If you are looking for an in-game rationalization, I would assumed that it is you (as the supreme commander of your armies) that cast these spells (or some mage/priest in your service).

And Toughness works just like that, although note that this is not the case when dealing with effects that move damage, such as Stubborn Refusal . This is because Toughness cancels damage that would be applied , and moving damage is not the same as applying damage.

Hope this answered your questions, and welcome to Warhammer: Invasion!
